Rain trickled down the windows of the coffee shop as the barista poured the hot coffee into the espresso cup, the milk began to froth up as she whisked it with the little milk frother. Her gorgeous curly red hair was up in a haphazard messy bun she probably did while in a hurry to get to work this morning. She smiled as she handed the elderly woman her espresso and as the woman turned her back the barista, Haley, frowned and went back to work. "Oh a fake smile" I thought to myself as I turned to the next page of the newspaper I held in my left hand, my right hand was preoccupied with a cup of hot coffee, black with no milk or sugar.
A soft grumble of thunder came from outside when someone opened the door, another customer made their way inside the almost empty coffee shop. The oddly embellished bell jingled above the door as the door slid close. I watched Haley bustle about behind the counter, her uniform was plain ole blue jeans that hugged her hips in a nice way, her tight work shirt that gripped her chest nicely, and a pair of ratty dark purple vans. Haley was my favorite barista here, all the other women were just rude or annoying to me, but Haley she was.....different. She was the one.
I was lost in thought and didn't notice her come over to my booth with her notepad ready to take my order. "Oh so sorry I wasn't paying attention" I said with a nervous chuckle as I shuffled the newspaper out of the way and set my cup down slightly sloshing the coffee. Haley smiled and shrugged her small shoulders, her cheeks reddened as she glanced away and then back to me "It happens to everyone" she said, her voice was so lovely. I nodded my head in understanding as I picked up the menu and skimmed through what they had, the blueberry muffin sounded delightful but so did the apple pie. I set the menu down and looked over at her and smiled, she picked up her pen and waited for me to give her my order like she should.
"I'll have a slice of your delicious world famous apple pie, dear" I said with my words reeking of lies because their pie isn't world famous nor is it good, I would know, I've had it way too many times while I waited for Haley to show up for work but to no avail. I'm just lucky she showed up on one of the days I was here unlike the other times. She's a hard girl to track down and keep an eye on it seems.
Haley jotted my order down then turned around and left to work on my order, so I went back to keeping a sharp eye on my girl. "Oh don't forget the extra whip on top!" I said loud enough for her to hear over the other people talking but not loud enough to annoy anyone. She whipped around and laughed with a nod then went back to her work. What a sweet girl. I looked down at my hands at my table with a little bit of guilt wracking me, but I didn't let that deter me from my future plans. The clock on the wall above the counter struck nearly midnight as I finished my meal later that day, I had gotten to the coffee shop around 10 PM and now it's midnight, so yes I believe I did spend quite some time here idling around waiting. But now it's time.
I grabbed up my belongings as I took a sneaky glance at Haley giving the key to the place to her coworker, Maddison, who was going to cover the graveyard shift. I quickly made my way outside and walked over to my car which was kind of an old dark Cadillac. The rain had finally slowed to a stop as I got inside my car and closed the door as quietly as I could.
A few minutes passed till I saw Haley finally leave her work, she didn't wear her work shirt anymore, instead she wore a tight frilly crop top that was a mouth watering sight for any single man to see, because when she walked her breasts bounced ever so slightly. She walked over to her red Toyota car and roughly opened the door as she unlocked it, she seemed to be in a hurry of some sort. After turning her car on and setting her radio on a loud enough volume for the cars surrounding her to hear she sped off out of the parking lot at an alarming speed.
I did the same as I followed behind her car but I kept a bit of feet behind her so she wouldn't notice my car obviously following her home. My heart beats at a normal rate for I've done this many times and I can do it again. I flicked my radio on for some company while I drove, Frank Sinatra boomed through the speakers loud enough for only me to hear as I turned the corner right behind Haley's car. She was too preoccupied with her music to notice even a fly in her car. After a minute or so of driving down the street we finally made it to her house where she parked slightly crooked in her driveway and I parked just down the street behind an ugly bush. As she made her way inside her house and closed the door behind her I checked my watch and smiled, just a few more hours now.
