"Well look at this men! We got us a stow away!" Putting two and two together Jophiel assumed that the man in the decorated red coat was this ships Captain. Jophiel was now standing and the Captain was holding him up by his bicep. With his announcement their was an uproar on the ship.
"You know what we do to stow aways on this ship boy?" The Captain asked with a cold smirk.
"Have your elf mage torture them to death with magic?" Jophiel said attempting to be defiant but his voice was shaking. The Captains eyes ignited with anger. He then took a firm grip of Jophiel's scruffy collar.
"Ah, yes I remember you. At the docks, white hair, electric eyes. Can't use them to watch were your going but can use them to spy on me." The Captain said tone cold as ice.
"I am no spy! I swear!" Jophiel pleaded
"Who do you work for. I will not ask so politely again." His tone even colder.
"No one, please!" Jophiel said more frightened than he had ever been.
"One way to find out. Andrenelle, tell me what he knows, and why he's here." The Captain said backing away from the boy
"Aye Cap'n." Jophiel looked over his shoulder just in time to see the elf levitate from the main deck, up to the quarter deck. This caused him to draw back. This wasn't the first time Jophiel had seen magic or been around a mage. When he was really young a very old wizard would come to the orphanage and do what he thought was amazing things with magic. As Jophiel got older he realized that magic could be used for more things than creating colorful sparks from nothing or changing the color of a ball multiple times. He learned later that magic could be dangerous, even be used to take a life.
With a flick of his wrist Andrenelle had Jophiel off his feet and floating toward the elf. He held the boy in place about a foot in front of his face.
"Do not struggle against me boy, it will only cause you pain. If you relax you have my word I will not cause you harm." The elf said in a semi comforting voice. With that his eyes went black. Jophiel felt like cold little fingers were going through all of his memories like photos in a scrap book. He could feel his recent memories being pushed to the forefront of his mind. Jophiel thought about resisting against the invasion of his mind but he remembered what the elf had said, and so far it had been true, what was being done was very uncomfortable, but it was not painful. After a few more moments of discomfort, the icy fingers that were picking through his mind receeded and the elf's eyes went back to normal. With a chuckle Andrenelle looked over to Captain Rhodes.
"He's no spy Cap'n. Actually he reminds me of you when you were just starting out. He's just a good kid with bad luck."
"Oh, really now?" Captain Rhodes asked, his left eyebrow raised.
"Aye Cap'n" Andrenelle answered
With that Captain Rhodes crouched down to get at eye level with Jophiel.
"Son do you know who I am?"
Jophiel shook his head, "No..."
A small smile played on the corners of the captains lips
"I am Captain Jagger Rhodes of the Crimson Saber. I am also The Pirate King."
Jophiel's eyes got wide, he had heard of the "king of the pirates" but he was told that it was just a myth, that he didn't really exist. Now here he stood less than a foot from him.
"My boy you have disrespected my ship and my crew by stowing away." Jophiel went to interject but was cut short as the Captain raised his hand to silence him. "Luckily for you there is a spot in my crew that just opened up. So you now have two choices: You prove you have what it takes to be apart of this crew, this family. If you can prove your fortitude and your loyalty, you will begin your training to become one of us. The alternative, you suffer the consequences for stowing away on the ship of the Pirate King." He paused for affect. "Whats it going to be kid?"
