Bookstore Girl

Continuation of Day 2

"Oh me? I'm Jess's girlfriend." 

I freeze. What the hell did she just say? We broke up 4 years ago, why does she come into my life when I don't want her to? "Oh. really?" Sallys says. "No! we are not together. What the hell Margo!" I said. "Oh, he's just being so silly today," Margo says. " What do you mean!? Margo, we've been broken up for 4 years!." Margo fake laughs and grabs my arm. " Oh my gosh, Jess you really know how to make me laugh. It's a little joke between us... You wouldn't get it though." Margo says while giving Sally a dirty look. Sally looks really uncomfortable right now but I know whatever I say It's going to make me sound psycho. "Oh okay. Well, I just came here to thank you for the book recommendation, and if you wanted to get coffee some-" "No! He can't. Why would you even ask that? You are so funny too. Well, it was nice seeing you, Sal." Margo says while waving her hand to signal Sally to leave. I am so mad at this point I can't even speak. "I'm so sorry, um... See ya, Jess." And just like that Sally was gone, out the door. I  quickly turn to Margo. "What the actual hell was that? Margo, I haven't seen you in like 4 years and now I'm magically your boyfriend?! I thought you want nothing to do with me." Magro takes a couple of steps so there is a bit of distance and her mood completely changes. " Listen Jess. I don't like you. Sometimes I wish you moved to another country far away from me. But I just need you to be my fake boyfriend." I'm shocked." What do you mean Margo?! I don't need that right now." I said. " I know, I know. But you see I need to make this guy jealous. He actually works here. He's over there." She pointed to the corner of the bookstore where one of my co-workers who is organizing the books. "Dave?" I said. Dave wasn't an unfortunate-looking guy but like why him? "So long story short, Dave and I were in the talking stage but then out of nowhere he gets this girlfriend and I need to make him jealous so that he wants me back." I process everything she just said. "Okay so, you need to make Dave jealous so that he will break up with his girlfriend and date you. But the only way to do that is to fake date me?"                    "Yes."                 "What do I get out of this?" I said because I am not going to fake date my ex for nothing. "Well, Dave's girlfriend is actually Sally," Margo says. "Wait actually? Oh. Um. Wait. So if they do break up that means..." " I can finally date Dave and you can date Sally." I think about this for a second... "It's a deal," I said. "Great. See you tomorrow fake boyfriend."
