Pain shot through every bone in my body as they struck me with the whip to get me back in the trailer. I could feel the blood gushing down my hocks from the wounds.
Two nights before, when they took me, I recieved a slice down my croup (top of butt) from when that horrible man whipped me. I had discovered that it didn't take much to make these people angry and must be careful about the way I act around them.
I wonder if Jennifer misses me, like I miss her. I wonder if Captain misses me, like I miss him. How much longer would I have to.....
"Get in the damn trailer you worthless horse!" He bellowed at me, interrupting my thoughts.
"Why don't you just smack him with the whip again!" The other shouted to him.
"Why should I do it? Are you too scared to now after he kicked you?" He chuckled.
"Give me the damn whip then."
I yelped from a sharp pain that shot through my stomach. He must have been too scared to come up from behind me again so he decided to smack my side instead. This hurt even more than it did when he smacked me on the croup.I quietly sufficated my cries as I sauntered into the trailer without a fight after that, for I could feel the sorrow and defeat washing over me.
"Well would ya look at that, maybe we should smack him more often." They chuckled to each other.
Fear rushed throughout my body from that last threat.I didn't put up a fight when they yanked me out of the trailer either, I knew it would only lead me to more trouble. I observed my surroundings feeling confused and out of place. It strongly stank like chicken manure and this place was making me uneasy, there were large factory buildings surrounding a small building with cages with chickens stuffed inside them and small pens with pigs and goats in them.
My back legs felt warm and sticky from the dried blood that covered me, but little did I know that this was the least of the things I had to worry about though.
I followed the wicked man with an agitated look in my eyes and just to show him, I would swing my head around in defiance every now and then. This ofcourse got me nowhere expect a sweet punch in the face which sent pain shooting through all the nerves in my face.
He shook the leadrope with a quick yank which made Memphis stop with a small rear.
"So this is the horse worth millions you say?" A short stubby man appeared from the small building.
"Yep, Memphis Sky is his show name."
"Whatever, I don't give a crap about what his show name is, I just want the horse."
"No way, not before I get my money!" He whispered fiercly.
"Ya save it, I've got you're money right here!" The stubby man yelled impatiently pulling out a bundle of cash wrapped in a tight elastic that looked like it was going to break.
"Would you shut up already, we have to keep this deal quiet." He whispered nervously while snatching the cash from the man's fingers and slipping it into his pocket.
"I couldn't care less if you get caught up in your secrets Rick! Once you hand this horse over to me it doesn't suddenly become my problem, it's still yours."
The stubby man snatched the leadrope away from Rick and took me to a stall that was just big enough for the full length of my body to fit in. There were strange people coming and peering into my stall writing things on a notepad who made me uneasy. My nerves started shooting up like a fire alarm. I had to break free, I couldn't take this anymore!I kicked and kicked and kicked until I had broken a hole in the pathetic rotting boards of the stall. Shrieks broke out from the people who a minute ago were standing right next to the stall.
A tall and slender man ran up next to my stall attempting to calm me down.
"Easy there boy, easy there." He whispered gently.
Surprisingly, this began to calm me down to some fast breathing and tense muscles.
"What on earth is going on here!" The stubby man shouted, walking into the building furiously. Before he could say anything else, the slender man cut in.
"Sir, the horse simply got scared and tried to get out. This stall is way too small for him, this is a sheep pen."
"Well I don't care how comfortable he is or not, all I know is that this horse is going in first because I've had enough of him!"
He charged into the stall with anger and my leadrope. From instinct, I shuffeled my hooves as quickly and as far back as I could go and smashed into the back wall of the stall.I found myself in a small arena with woodshavings at my feet. There was an odd man sitting in a tall desk behind me talking incredoubly fast. I couldn't keep up with what he was saying for all his words seemed to slurr together.
"And do I have a 5000 over here, how about 5500...." was all I could make out.
People were raising cards in a crowd some benches rising up to the ceiling and nodding their heads to the speaker. My thoughts seemed to be tripping over themselves from confusion and nerves.
"SOLD!" The speaker bellowed out to the crowd.
"To the man with the ear piece in the green pladue shirt over there!" He continued.
His finger lingered on the man he yelled out to. I followed his finger to see who he was pointing to as best as I could and succeeded. The man had a large beer belly with a fair amount of stubble to his chin. He had an odd contraption on his ear and seemed to be speaking into it. The one thing that made me feel uneasy though, was the nasty grin sitting on his face.I was so caught up in trying to figure out who this man was, that I didn't see it coming when another man who I hadn't seen before, took the leadrope and led me out of the arena. I was relieved that I had finally got out of that terrifying arena.
I saw that man with the earpiece again as we were walking out of the building and seemed to be going towards him. He clicked the button on his earpiece and stopped talking into it. He started walking towards us in an intimidating way.
"Load him in the trailer as quick as you can would ya, I'm running late." He impatiently ordered.
"Yes sir," the man who was leading me said.
I was taken to yet another stupid trailer and if it weren't for the nice man leading me in, I would have given him a hard time. I swear this will be the last trailer I ever load into again!Hi guys, it's gallant galloper again!
