Chapter 1 : System Set-Up

Serena has never feared death. Everybody dies eventually after all. But when offered a second chance at life, how could she refuse?

By some miracle, an AI system offered to bring Serena back to life as long as she became its experience supplier, kind of like being their avatar in a video game and the AI was the kid with the controller behind the screen. As much as Serena hates to admit it, she nearly jumped at the opportunity.

Dying in a car crash at the ripe old age of 25 was not how Serena wanted to go. She had wanted to find love, have a loving family, she wanted to have friends, and above all, Serena wanted to help others. All these things she sadly didn't get the chance to do in her 25 years of life.

Now her soul sat, waiting between life and death to be transported into her new host body. Serena hadn't been too keen on the idea of changing her looks, but at least her first name would remain the same in her next life. She was learning to just accept what the AI System was giving her; there was no point in bitching to a computer program after all. Suddenly, white letters resembling the font you would see on old books written with a typewriter appeared in front of Serena's eyes in the dark abyss she waited in.

[Host874 will be transferred to a suitable realm shortly. Host874 will be given the opportunity to save the characters from Realm662. After Host874 survives the plot for 2 years, your experience points will be transferred to System173. Once the transfiguration is complete, System173 will evolve into a Fictional Reality System and pass on to the next realm. Host874 may then choose to either remain in Realm662 or to be reincarnated into another realm of her choice.]

I'm going into a fictional realm? Does that mean I'll be put in a book, movie, or TV show? Serena thought to herself, knowing the system would be able to hear her. Having an AI in her head was another thing she would have to get used to.

[Realm662 is depicted as a TV show in Host874's previous realm. System173 selected Realm662 based on Host874's preference and foreknowledge about the events that take place.]

Which show will I be sent to? And how will I be inserted into the plot? Serena wondered. She needed to know how much work she would have to do so she could get involved with the main characters in whatever show this AI was sending her to.

[It would appear that Host874 needs to gain more experience points in patience. Host874 will learn after the binding and configuration of her soul to her host body is complete.]

I didn't realize that an AI system could be so rude. Serena thought as she rolled her eyes.

[Host874 has a lot to earn. Perhaps Host874 should use the first few experience points she gets to buy knowledge.]

Ouch. Serena thought. Suddenly a dinging noise pierced through the silence of the place Serena would now refer to as the 'waiting room'.

[Binding complete.]

Another ding then rang through the space.

[Configuration of Host874 to the new host body complete.]

[Host874 will have the memories of the body's prior host transferred into her consciousness upon waking up in the mission realm, Realm662. System173 will contact Host874 whenever she has the opportunity to earn experience points or levels up.]

[Initiating Host874 soul transfer.]

The darkness seemed to whirl around her and Serena felt her skin tingle as if electricity was skimming along it. Then everything around her stopped moving and Serena heard the sound of birds tweeting.
