It was a calm day for the town of Grehu.
While searching for her mother, Sarah M. Elheim, finds a.. well, to put it in a good way, an old book. It looks well taken care of, and used warmly.
Its beaten cover says; 'How To Command An Army'.
She momentarily wonders, why would her mother have such a book? But enough of her foolish thought process, she has things to do..! Well, the book can stay. For now.
Suddenly, a door in the house then shuts closed, and she, horrified, realizes she is not alone in the estate.
She, very unthinkingly, runs to the window and jumps. It just so luckily happens it was a one story building.
She ran for hours until her feet gave out and she collapsed onto the dirt road. Due to how long she ran, ' She mildly looks to the hazy sky, noticing it has turned a dark orange and red,' she turns over into the grass, arms and legs straining as she moves.
Just a nap, she tells herself.
Her eyes close.
—:::—
She woke up in bed.
Was it a dream?
..No, it couldn't have been! She definitely had felt everything that had happened, the exhaustion, the soreness, the pure fear...Why would she be in bed, then? She wondered.
Sarah then trudged tiredly to the dining hall, where her mother was waiting for her.
She was eating breakfast.
Her mother asked casually, "Did you have the dream?"
Sarah looked at her in shock. "What do you mean, Mother?" Sarah asked, knowing what her mother had truly been asking her.
"The dream, you know, where you are being chased." She asked.
Sarah stuttered, "I- I don't know what you are talking about. That's.. preposterous!"
Yeah, it was obvious she was lying.
She's fucked.
Her mother reminded Sarah calmly, "..You do know, your eyes, they widen when you are lying?"
She then took a bite of her croissant.
Sarah sighed and groaned into her hands as she pulled up a chair at the table. She proceeded to then confess to everything.
She told her mother everything, even about the book.
Her mother was shocked when Sarah began talking about the book.
She then asked, "What book?"
She was serious, and Sarah knew it immediately by the tone in her voice and the coldness in her eyes.
"If you have had it before, then you should know what book it is?" She inquires a little sarcastically.
Her mother got furious at the sassy comment. "WHAT BOOK, SARAH. TELL ME NOW BEFORE I MAKE YOU". She hisses furiously.
Sarah winces at the tone as she told her mother about the book she read before she ran away from the dream-house.
Her mother, still fuming, asked, "What was the title?"
Sarah, who was only 10 at the time and didn't know why her mother was so serious, told her mother the title and her mother's face turned white, and then she soon started to cry.
Sarah was startled as she slid up from her chair and worriedly asked, "Mother why are you crying!?"
Her mother weeped as she explained to her. "I will die soon, and you, Sarah, will have to take care of the army and kingdom."
Sarah was dumbfounded, so she asked "What?! W-why- you must be kidding! Why would you die because of a silly book!? And wait, I cant take care OF AN ENTIRE KINGDOM! LET ALONE AN ARMY!!" She fumbles with her words, staring at her mom with her hands hovering at her sides uselessly.
"Sweetie, you will command the army, whether you want to or not."

Ten years later, Sarah was shot in the head by an old-modeled sniper. She was the last of her family bloodline to live.

A Century Later...
"MOM WHY THE FUCK DOES SIDNEY HAVE MY NINTENDO SWITCH!?" Rowan screamed to his very annoyed mother.
"HOW SHOULD I KNOW?! AND WATCH THAT MOUTH OF YOURS, YOU KNOW WHO YOUR TALKING TOO!" His mother screamed back from across the house.
"OH MY FUC- FRICKIN GOD, IM GOING TO THE MALL WITH MY FRIENDS. ILL BE BACK IN, LIKE, A FEW HOURS." He yells back, stomping around to collect his stuff.
Rowan was completely done with his family.
He did end up going to the mall, but since his friends were doing their homework, he couldn't go with them.
Not only that, but he was the ripe age of 14. You can guess why that's a problem.
So after eating a very specifically ordered ice cream from his favorite shop, he went into the woods to explore, since he needed a little breath of fresh air, and maybe a bit of an adventure.
As he was walking into the woods, he kicked over something hard and rectangular. He kneeled down with a frown and turn over the rectangle.
There he found a very specific bookHow To Build An Army
Authors note:
To clarify for the first half that was in the 1907 so the current timeline for Rowan would be 2007
Also yes I had to specify it was a sniper because why not?
Editor note: hi :) this was really fun to edit, I'm excited to continue working with you Melvin!
