Death threats were a thing of the past, some people would say.
Looking at Asher, sitting with his head between his knees on the couch, one hand closed around a crumpled paper, and the other clutching his phone, Nora thought otherwise.
Verbal abuse, stalking and sending creepy, improper letters to celebrities, was still a thing among hardcore fans. Nora had hidden enough of those mails from Asher, to know his fanbase also had such idiots in the crowd.
"What should we do?"
"What can we do? Mr. Jesls won't talk to us."
"Maybe Mr. Houstian can help us-"
"No! We can't keep ringing him up every time there is a problem! Miss Gina, we-" The girl turned around, reaching for Gina, and her next words died in her mouth.
Beside Nora, Gina let out a chuckle and patted the girl on the shoulder. "I can't believe you still manage to strike fear in the hearts of my poor staff."
"Jasmine, you can leave." Gina said.
The girl who stood before them, stupefied just a second ago, came to life and gave a quick nod.
"Yes ma'am." She whispered and gave a short bow, before turning on her heel and walking out of the room.
"All of you-" Gina signalled to the remaining four members, and pointed at the open door behind her. "Leave us."
"Me and Nora, will handle it from here."
The immediate relief that spread across their faces, upon hearing Gina's words, was hilarious and Nora wanted to laugh along with the manager, but she controlled herself.
They were in the room, hurdled in one corner, trying to decide the best way to persuade Asher.
There could be no distractions.
They watched the staff leave the room, one by one, and when the last person was out of eavesdropping range, Gina let out a tired sigh.
"Maybe, they're right."
"About what?"
"Maybe, Dan is the only one who can get Asher out of his stupor. If we call him-"
"No."
"Why not? We're already out of time, Nora. If Asher doesn't pull himself together-"
"He will."
Gina opened her mouth, ready to refute her claim, but Nora held up her hand, stopping her from saying further.
"I'll talk to him."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes." Nora said.
"Alright, then." Gina made a move to leave, but Nora grabbed her by the wrist, stopping her mid-step.
"Just make sure the staff goes through his mail again, and every other room he has used till now. Make sure no one has access to his private schedule. And-"
"I know. I know." Gina said and gave her hand a quick squeeze.
A small smile played on her lips, and the earlier tension on her face eased a little. "I won't let them get away with it, this time."
Nora returned the smile, with one of her own. "I'm counting on you, Manager Watts." She said, and let go of Gina's wrist.
The manager turned around, a hand combing through her dark tresses and another straightening the crinkles on her three-piece emerald suit.
