Prince Caius insists on his words and his guards begin to drag me away. Their hands grasp my wrist and pull me after the steps of the prince. I cannot act indecisively with him and his bunch of humorless lads or else it'll cost me my head.
I look above his head the moment I hear raspy and drawn-out hisses from some animal. It did not bother the prince as he sincerely continue his way to his office. Yet, it draw me to a strange thought.
Vultures. There were four vultures circling the skies with their grunting noises that sound like hungry pigs in the wild. I want to tell him about it but he seems not to care. These birds must have been wanted visitors in this place as it only alarms me and not the rest.
"Your Highness," I say. In hopes of him hearing my plea but he spares me no word. "Prince Caius," I call to him again.
"What?" he turns around to meet my eyes.
"Is the circling of the wild birds above a normal occurrence in this Kingdom?" I ask, betraying my mind who chooses not to. Then, he looks at the sky, witnessing the uncanny event that has been happening.
He turns away and looks at me. "You speak as if you do not live in this Kingdom, Miss. Weisze," he says and furrows a brow. "Dismiss your thoughts about the birds, they're probably lost," he utters and turns around to continue his steps.
As he begins to walk, his soldiers manage to keep on with their jobs as well. "Let me go!" I exclaim and they let my voice pass by their ears. "I am completely unaware of my doing, Your Highness. I fear that you must have mistaken me for someone else!"
The second I decided to speak gibberish and look sympathetic, Prince Caius halts his feet. He stops for a while before turning around to meet my eyes. "Why do you suppose I'm thinking about suspecting you in any matter?"
I was a fool to talk about my thoughts. My lips parted along with the widening of my eyes when I come to the conclusion that I have made him doubt me twice than how he already is. My heart begins to race abnormally.
He gestures with his head and his guards immediately stepped backward, letting both my wrists go. He walks towards me making me take a step behind my feet. I could feel my lips shiver and so I turn to bite them with my teeth before pleading again.
"Your Highness, I beg you--"
I gasp as he cuts me off. He grabs my wrist and brings it closer to him. My eyes couldn't widen more and my knees trembled in fear. My fingers numb and hardened by the caresses of his breath.
His eyes take off from me and turn to my wrist. "I shall satisfy myself with the answers I seek," the hoarseness of his voice rings in my ears. The sky begins to darken and a flash of light bounds to its floors.
Suddenly, he withdraws a small knife from his pocket. My head shakes aggressively, trying to stop him but he just became more eager to do something that his mind tells him to. "Your Highness, please! I beg you--"
