Are you staring at me?

The past few months were killing Steve all because that new kid Billy Hargrove moved to Hawkins. His sister or step-sister is awesome (still mean as hell, but way better than Billy) and his friend, Lucas has this massive crush on her, but he can't tell her about it. Anyway, after that Californian boy moved here, everything was pretty much taken from Steve:  his awesome nickname and popularity. He sometimes wonders what it would be like if Billy never moved here and if Steve himself was never popular.

"nance? nance! hey, are you listening to me?" Steve groaned, poking Nancy's shoulder.

Steve and Nancy were at the local pool, babysitting their younger friends, and yes, the two split up because they lost feelings for each other, no other specific reason. Steve was laying down on his deck chair and Nancy was sitting down on hers as the sun shined on them.

"yeah, yeah I am" Nancy replied, clearly not listening. "what did I say then?" he whined, as he watched how Dustin and the others were playing in the water. Nancy shrugged as he watched how a girl across the pool was sunbathing. that girl was Steve's best friend Robin but he didn't want to waste her time by inviting her to watch over some little kids who needed someone to watch over them 24/7 cause their parents are too busy to. Steve let out a sigh as he noticed that Robin was staring at Nancy also. Wow, what a love story. Not long ago, both of them came out to Steve. One as a lesbian, the other one as a bisexual, and not that he didn't support the two, he loved them the same as when he didn't know that about them, but it's so sad that even gay people get a partner faster than him. He is handsome and pretty rich, so why isn't anyone hitting on him?

Nancy slowly moved her head to speak: "hey, steve? would you mind looking over the kids while I'm gone? Do you know that Robin girl? the one that works with" "yeah you can go talk to her, I don't mind" he said, giving her a slight smile and with that, Nancy left with a nod. He watched how she ran to Robin. Honestly, they look so cute together, but they could have at least invited him to talk to them, even though he would be the third wheel. As always.

Steve let out a sigh as he scanned the place to see if somebody he knew well was also at the pool, but no one was so he was all alone. Suddenly he felt like someone was watching him. he looked around himself only to see Billy sitting on his lifeguard chair, staring at Steve like a king his slave, but even though Billy noticed Steve looking at him, he didn't break his contact with Steve's body. Because Steve's deck chair was only 3 meters in front of Billy's lifeguard chair, Steve spoke. "Are you staring at me?"  He said, narrowing his eyes. "what would you do if i say i am?" he replied, a smirk appearing on his face as usual. Not any smirk though. the smirk that says: i don't want any trouble but is still want to tease you. Steve only kept his mouth shut as he slowly sat up, as a shiver went down his spine. he shook his head "what do you want, Hargrove?" he hissed and Billy shrugs, the smirk not leaving his face. Billy put his sun glasses on "are you babysitting those kids again? C'mon Harrington, arent they old enough to take care of themselves, huh?" He said and watched how Steve looked down to come up with an answer.

Steve hated how he just ignored his answer, but he still had a good point. He looked around as he saw how his two friends were sitting on one deck chair, laughing together. yep, Nancy is not coming back. He looked back to Billy "i dunno." he replied, trying to calm down because he felt like he was talking to someone who was much older than him. he relaxed his shoulders. "are you going to the party tonight, Stevie?" Billy spoke again "Nah, parties are not my thing anymore" he replied, "why not?" "Because. i stopped going on them ever since you moved here." steve said and with that, Billy was not smiling anymore. he wasn't even mad, he was just... disappointed. not at steve, but at himself. was he really that mean to Steve? he gulped as he looked at his time 4 minutes till his shift was over "look im sorr-" Billy began to speak but he was interrupted by that toothless kiddo. "STEVE!" Dustin ran to Steve as he pointed at Will.  "don't shout im right here Henderson." Steve hissed, looking at the younger boy "me and the others were play th- this game wh- where we had to hold our heads under water and- and Will started choking! i think- i think he is going to die!" Billy quickly looked at that Willy boy, who actually looked a lot like his older brother, perfectly stable. he probably just inhaled some water, but he still had to say something so he and dustin didn't have any troubles in the future "you what? kid, that's dangerous. luckily nothing bad happened, but still, if i see you doing that again you're kicked out for life, understand?" both steve and Dustin look up at the boy, dusting gulping with a nod "i understand." he said and looked back to Steve "i think its enough for today. lets go home." the brunette said as he looked over Dustins shoulder to look at Will who coughed from here to there, but as Billy said, nothing bad happened.

Dustin ran to his friends to tell them that they were soon going back home. Steve stood up and took his stuff before looking back at Billy whose eyes were still on Steve and his body "uh, we will be going now, see ya." he hummed and walked to the kids who seemed that were all dried and ready to go when suddenly Steve felt a soft tap on his shoulder. he thought it was Nancy at first because he didn't tell her they were going. no, it was Billy who held a party invitation "what do you-" "come to the party, please. i wrote my number on the paper so you can call me later." he said and gave the paper to Steve who was surprised. Did Billy just ask steve to join him at a party and worst of all, did he just say please? What has gotten into him? The blonde thought before walking away, not saying another word. Steve looked at the paper before pushing it into his backpack pocket "dipshit.." he sighed as he looked at his younger friends who ran into his car before opening the door and sitting in it "I'm definitely going to that party." he said under breath as he made his way to his car.

-

Steve parked in front of his house, quickly getting out of it "hey, guys? i don't think you'll be staying at my place today, because I gotta go somewhere later" "to that party, right?" mike asked with a smile "yeah." everyone smiled "can we go with yo-" "no."

the kids took their bikes and Steve went into his house "mom? dad?" he shouts but gets no reply "they're not home. great." he muttered before taking the party invitation. Who knows? Maybe he will have fun at that party? He thought, noticing some numbers next to the title. That must be his number.

Steve quickly took his phone as he began to dial Billy's number into it “seven.. nine.. two..” he muttered and he wanted to click that green 'call' button but he stopped. He didnt know why, but he did. Like there was something he was missing out. But what? He thought, getting a negative feeling. Nah, what is he thinking? Of course he isnt coming to the party.

He was ready to put the phone down and do something fun, like watching a movie or going to the shopping centre to buy some clothes, (which he already had a lot but he still liked wearing fashionable clothes like some super model) but thats when he heard a voice “hello? Steve?” Billy. He did it. He accidentally pressed the call button. How the heck could he do that? “Hey, yeah. Its me Steve. I just uh... Wanted to inform you that im not-” “oh youre coming? Thats awes- cool. Thats cool” he corrected himself “no im not co-” “ill come pick you up, harrington.” he said. “how do you know where i live?” Steve asked and Billy chuckled “who doesnt know where you live? Anyway, see you later. Bye, Stevie” ans then he hung up. Well, now hes going to that party anyway unfortinatly.

Steve put the phone down and looked at himself in the mirror. If he us already going, he might as well change imto something nice, right? He walked into his walk in closet as he changed into a black thurtleneck and some nice black jeans. God did he look good in that outfit. Maybe he will get a chick at that party? Who knows.

An hour  or two passed and Steve was ready for the party. He was just putting on his shoes as he heard a knock on his door. He hopped to it and opened it. It was Billy. He wore his usual: some random tight jeans and a barely buttoned button up. He leaned ahainst the door frame as he checked out Steve and his outfit “you dressed nice for once, huh?” Billy said, Steve scoffing “be happy im going, Hargrove.” he clicks his tonuge.

Billy smiled “lets go” ge said and walked to his blue car, Steve following him. They hopped in and they were off to go.

As they drove Billy lit up a cigarette. Steve looked at him in disguist. Yes, he did smoke years ago but he stopped. It became gross and he destroyed some pretty good shirts with it. Steve crossed his arms “could you not? I dont want to smell like cigarettes when i come there” “oh, its not that bad Stevie, wanna try one?” “No fucking way, Bill” he hissed. Billy smirked in a teasing way as he took the cigar out of his mouth and reached over to shove it in Steves mouth. Steve screeched and struggled, trying to fight Billys strong hand and when he almost got the cigarette in his mouth he yelled “Watch out!”

There was a kid crossing the road. A small kid that wasnt moving. Billy wasnt paying attention to the road but luckily, in the last second he turned his steering wheel and literally kicked the barke panel, forcing the car to stop right in front of the kid. Billy felt something on his tighs. He looked down only to see Steves sweaty hand squeezing him.
