I'll Protect You (Rex X Reader)

Warmth.

You sat down outside the building that the Kaminoans created the clones, rain soaking your Jedi robes. A soft sigh left your mouth as you looked at the waves crashing against the structure that they made to keep the water out of their city.

"Cold?" A somewhat familiar voice called out.. it was your best friend

"Yeah.." You replied quietly, but not so quiet that he couldn't hear you.

A few minutes go by.. soon Captain Rex came out with a blanket, wrapping it around your shoulders and sitting next to you.

"Why're you out here all alone?" He said in a slightly worried tone.

"Just wanted to watch the waves.." you hopelessly lied, in intention to hide the true reason you were sitting out there alone.

"Mhm.." Rex said, half believing what you said. The 5'11 male scooted a bit closer to you, lifting up your sleeve to reveal your self harm scars. "What's this from then?"

You paused for a minute.. unsure whether to answer or to just stay quiet. Finally you decided you might as well tell him because he was your friend.

"Uhm... I did that last night.."

Rex's expression switched from confusion to complete worry, he ran into the building for almost an hour.. coming back out with a first aid kit.

"Hold still little miss.. let me clean that for you.." he said softly as he kept your sleeve rolled up and gently began to clean the cuts with rubbing alcohol.

You winced as you felt the alcohol seep into your self inflicted wounds, tears began to stream down your warm cheeks as you kept your head down, watching as he cleaned them with such gentleness and care.

Rex then moved you closer to him, sighing softly as he pulled you into a warm hug, you only started to cry more when he told you "It will all be okay, I promise." .

His soft voice reassured you more than you'd known at that timing, you were sobbing now. Burying your head into his built shoulder, it was night so he didn't have his usual armor on.

Not a single word came out of your mouth, you just stayed there in his strong arms, tears continued to fall down your face as you kept your head buried in his shoulder, falling asleep. He didn't seem to mind this, he stayed by your side.
