"Hoh..." I let out a cold puff of breathe as I made my way up the mountain, today was December 23, and I decided to take a hike outside to calm my mind. "It's pretty breezy today."
I stood still on top of the mountain, watching the magnificent view offered by the elevation I was on. "So pretty..." I muttered softly as the wind started getting stronger.
"Huh?" I let out an audible gasp as I felt that the wind was abnormally strong. "What's wrong?" I asked myself as I stared at the sky, finding that it was getting dark all of a sudden.
And a few seconds later, it started to rain. "Ah, why today of all days?" I sighed with exasperation as I took shelter beneath the only tree at the top of the mountain I was on. "Today was supposed to be happy."
The started to get stronger with the billows of wind as I took out my phone and checked. "Hahhh... there was no weather forecast about a sudden storm in this area, so why?"
The rain was getting worse, and so was the wind. Lightning flashed and thunder rolled. It was dangerous to be on the mountain at a time like this, but I cannot leave because of the wind.
Fortunately for me, the tree I was hiding behind was tall and sturdy. Its trunk was wide enough for me to hide away from the wind pushing me to the ride of the cliff. "Fortunately."
But also, unfortunately for me, I am also very unlucky. If that makes sense. The number of lightning strikes suddenly started to increase in number and for a brief moment, I saw it.
Somehow, I don't know how, I saw a S.P.R.I.T.E lightning strike down towards me. I felt my perspective of time slow down as red lightning struck down the tree I was hiding behind.
Electricity coursed through my veins as felt my skin fry by the mere heat the lightning brought. My brain was getting fried from the electricity and my limbs were convulsing.
Sprites or red sprites are large-scale electrical discharges that occur high above thunderstorm clouds, or cumulonimbus, giving rise to a quite varied range of visual shapes flickering in the night sky.
The problem is that they occur above the clouds and are usually covered, that is what makes them rare. But for one to strike me down... I don't know if whether I should call myself extremely lucky to see, and even experience such rare phenomenon.
Or call myself unlucky to be die and not live to tell the tale. 'This hiking trip I was supposed to take was to relieve myself of all the problems in the world, but it seems that those problems chased me here...'
I spoke my last words in my thoughts as my consciousness faded out. I felt my soul leave my body drifting aimlessly among the void, it wasn't a good feeling vividly speaking.
It was an empty void where my senses did not work, at least until I started to hear the sound of dripping water hitting the hard ground. "I'm... still alive?" I wasn't sure if this was mere illusion.
I felt a strange yet seemingly familiar energy course through my body, it felt warm, yet so cold. Oh, the irony of what I said. It was a very strange experience. I felt strong and vitalized.
My body felt odd, it was as if my limbs were rearranged, but were also familiar to move in. I felt that I had a fifth limb... wait, fifth limb? I opened my eyes to be met with a streets of night.
It was a foreign, yet familiar place. "Where exactly am I?" I asked myself in confusion as I swayed from left to right trying to stand up properly. "Why am I on my fours?" I asked in a dazed manner.
I was so disoriented right now, I felt like my mind was collapsing form all the things I was hearing. I covered them with my hands as I looked at the puddle of water where water fell drip by drip.
