The first half of school went slowly. Had a few lectures the biggest one being english, the only way I made it through was Kay making faces across the room. By lunchtime I was hungry as a bear about to hibernate. Luckily, I had packed a mega lunch today.

By the time I got to our regular table Kay was already sitting there with her boyfriend Mike. They've been together for almost 4 years now and would do anything for each other. Sometimes they made me want to hang myself, but hey that's love. The only thing different about the table today was their shared look of curiousity. I tried to ignore them, but after unloading a grocery cart worth of food from my lunch pale I couldn't help but snap at them. "What are you guys looking at?!"

Mike was the first to respond to my question, " Well at first I was looking at you because Kay told me about some mystery guy from last night and now I'm looking at you like this because I want to know why you think it's necessary to pack a grocery store in your lunch box and not share any of it." He raised his eyebrows while looking at my small pile of cookies as if he was going to ask for one.

"Two things, first of all my cookies bastard so eyes off. Second of all Kay what the hell?!?! Why did you tell him! It was nothing just some random guy at the taco bell!" Mike knowing well that I was serious about my cookies moved his gaze to Kay to see how she would react to my outburst on her. She looked slightly amused. I had two guesses as to why, but I really wanted to see her explanation.

"Okay well first off I wasn't going to tell him, but I had to explain why you were throwing tacos last night. Second, it wasn't some random guy because if it was you wouldn't be so red right now!" I sigh at her in frustration and facepalm myself.

"I don't have a thing for that guy!" I don't know why, but my response seemed to be just what Kay had wanted because she was smirking at me.

"I never said you have a thing for him." Those simple words made me second guess my feelings about that guy. Sure he was cute, but I didn't feel anything real for him other than that small tug of attraction like I knew him...

But that was against the point! I didn't have a good response to Kay so I just looked down and started nibling on my lunch until Mark took the initiative to change the conversation to something lighter. Of course he didn't know this signaled Kay's winning of this argument, not that there wouldn't be another one.

Later on in the day I was trying to avoid Kay without 1) Hurting her feelings and 2) Making it blatantly obvious. As far as I could tell I was doing pretty well, so far. For last period we both had biology and since we could sit where ever we wanted Kay and I always sat near each other. So, I gave in to avoiding her and figured she wouldn't bring up our lunch conversation again. However, Kay had other plans.

As soon as I was seated she plopped herself down on the table in front of me and slid her bag into the chair to my right. " Alright, we are going to get this over with really fast okay?" She looked at me and waited for my approval, so I nodded scared that if I didn' t let her go on something bad would happen. "Alright, so you say you don't have any feeling for this guy yet everytime he gets brought up you turn into a tomato, like right now." She pointed to my face and I raised my hands up to my cheeks to try to cool them down. Then she went on, "And what was the final touch on the cake that you like him would've been that you were so defensive at lunch-" I opened my mouth to interupt her, but her hand was quickly up cutting me off. " Wait until I'm done. So, it would have been that you were so defensive at lunch, but then you started avoiding me all afternoon." My look of shock made her smirk down at me. "How could you possibly think I wouldn't have noticed I'm your best friend."

"I-I'm sorry Kay..." I looked down and started fidgeting with my hands feeling guilty about avoiding her until she cleared her throat. I looked up and was met with her intense brown eyes. "What?"

"I will forgive you if you just admit that you have a crush on that guy." Her gaze stayed on me for a few moments before she decided I wasn't going to take that, sadly she still knew I would take some deal with her. I mean I can't stand it when my friends are mad at me. I raised my brow at her waiting for her next offer. " Or you could just admit that you have at the very least a baby crush on him."

"Fine, I have a baby crush on that guy." I looked down as I said that last part feeling my face heat up a bit.

"I'm sorry I didn't hear all of that. Can you say that a little louder?"

At this point Kay was just being a little pushy, but I just looked up and said, " I have a baby crush on the guy from taco bell. Did you hear it that time?" I felt my blush grow even redder and even my ears felt heated. She smiled down at me triumphantly and hopped off the  table.

 ***

Almost an hour later Kay and I were walking out the school doors. Before we could get to the car to head over to the ice cream shop Mike came out of nowhere and scared both Kay and I. Simultaniously we turned and slapped his shoulders while he just doubled over laughing before standing up and talking. "Sorry guys, but you guys are so easy to scare." He just kept laughing until finally he looked up at Kay and said, "Good luck tonight Baby." He leaned down and gave her a hearty kiss before turning on his heels to run back inside for basketball practice.

"Kay! I thought you promised to limit your PDA in front of me!" I pouted at her while she just smile after Mike.

"Sorry! Seriously he just did it out of nowhere! It's not like I could stop him and tell him no PDA in front of you that would only make it his goal to annoy you by kissing me all the time." As she said the last part I realized that no matter how true it was it was just a cover up for the fact that no matter how much it grossed me out to see the two of them kiss, she still wanted to kiss him.

I sighed and realized just how dark it was to be so early in the afternoon so I looked at Kay and said, "It's alright, lets just head out before it starts raining."

We timed our drive to the mall today so we would have a basic idea of how long the commute would be from school to work if we decided to go right after school. Before we had started driving we had both taken guesses at how long it would take to get there. My guess was 20 and Kay said that with how fast I drive it would take half that and made her gues 10 minutes.

It turned out to take 15 minutes. Go figure, now no one wins. I couldn't help but laugh at the timing of our arrival, but I had to get it together to go inside. I looked at Kay and found her already looking at me impatiently. "You ready for this Kay?"

"Heck yes!"

A/N Alright guys if you are reading this ( I know not many are) you should know I tried to upload sooner, but I get busy fast. This is the best I could do for this chapter. I know it's short, but I wanted to add to the story soon. I didn't reach my goal of them getting to the ice cream shop either, but it's kind of a good thing because that means I will have more time to work on dialoge. Well anyways I have to stop for now!
