~ Synopsis ~

King Viserys Targaryen and his second wife Queen Alicent Hightower had two healthy children together, during the labours of their third child it came as quite the shock when the maester instructed the Queen to keep pushing after the birth of a boy. A few minutes later came the birth of a girl, a set of twins. The twins named Aemond and Aelora were half the size of their elder siblings when born, both sporting the Targaryen's signature white hair and violet eyes.

The twins were inseparable for a lot of their younger years, the two of them spent countless hours exploring the dragon pit in secret, getting as close as they could to the dragons of their family without being hurt. Unfortunately for Aelora, the older they got the more Aemond favoured their elder brother Aegon. Neither Aelora or Aemond were dragon riders like the rest of their family and Aegon never let them forget it, constantly ridiculing them for the fact. Nevertheless Aemond still chose Aegon.

Often left out by her brothers who would rather be in the company of their nephews, only due to their gender. Heleana, her sister, prefered to spend her time with insects that she had found, constantly muttering too them under her breath. So Aelora spent most of her time alone, spending hours wondering the red keep unnoticed, burning the secret passages she found into her memory and reading as many books as her septa's would allow.

Viserys didn't realise how he made his younger children feel, his obvious favouritism of his eldest child Rhaenyra. The one thing that Viserys did give to his youngest daughter was his obsession with old Valyria. Aelora spent hours studying her fathers sculpture of their ancestral home, occasionally he'd ramble stories to her. She did appreciate the time she spent with her father but she knew that he'd rather it were Rhaenyra, more than once he had called the girl by the wrong name.

As much as little Aelora attempted to connect with her mother, she simply couldn't no matter how hard she tried. Alicent Hightower cared more about proving the legitimacy of of her step-grandchildren and embarrassing her step-daughter, than her youngest daughters happiness. Even though Aelora put on a brave face for the subjects at court, it broke her heart and made her feel almost completely alone in her family.

Due to the neglect of her mother and the ageing of her father, Aelora found herself becoming increasingly close to her elder half sister Rhaenyra. She made the little girl feel less alone and the two of them shared an unspoken bond. Aelora personally thought she was drawn to her because of her mother's dislike of the two, they both knew how it felt to be stuck under Alicent's thumb. Rhaenyra on the other hand took the young girl under her wing because she saw herself in her sister. That spark that Rhaenyra's mother, Aemma loved about Rhaenrya was the same spark that Alicent was slowly stamping out of Aelora.
