Hermione and I walk into transfiguration and sit down at one of the free desks. I must say, I'm actually quite nervous to be in class. Hopefully I don't get picked to ask questions...though I did script I'm smart so we'll see if that works out. After a moment or so, Professor McGonagall walks into the class, bringing all attention to her and making everyone go quiet. She's a little intimidating if I'm being completely honest.
"Good morning everyone" she says brightly, making me feel more comfortable. I smile up at her as there are a few scattered people saying "morning professor". I wonder what we're going to learn.
"I do hope everyone's ready for the new year and are prepared to work hard in this class" she says as she stands in front of the class, all attention on her. "Please open your text books to page 206, we will begin looking over 'strigiforma'. Does anyone know what this spell does?"
I raise my hand without even meaning to. I somehow feel like I know the answer even though I have never even heard this word before.
"Yes Shelby"
"It is the spell for transforming an owl into a pair of opera glasses" I answer immediately. I guess scripting I know everything necessary for classes was a good idea. Also the fact I scripted I wouldn't have any trouble with classes and assessments.
"Very well done!"
I feel everyone's eyes on me making me slightly uncomfortable. I turn to look at Hermione who is scribbling notes down on her parchment neatly with her quill. I'm surprised she wasn't battling me to answer the question honestly.
"Everyone pay attention to my demonstration, you can then attempt the spell yourself using the directions in your textbook"
All the students watch as McGonagall effortlessly transforms her dusty brown barn owl into a pair of opera glasses, earning an applause from her students. Magic is so cool and I will never get over it.

"I can't believe you managed to transform your owl perfectly on your first try. Hermione seriously has some competition" Ron exclaims as we make our way to astronomy. Our second class of the day.
"I don't know about that" I reply. I seriously don't want to bring attention to myself right now. I literally just got here...I especially don't want me and Hermione to have issues with classes.
"New girl!" I hear someone call from behind us. I turn around and see Mattheo Riddle once again. He looks fantastic in his Slytherin uniform.
"You've met the son then." Harry dismissed as he continues to walk, expecting me to follow. Instead I stay still and wait for Mattheo to catch up.
"Hey. What's up?" I ask. I can hear the judgement coming from my friends immediately.
"Heading to Astronomy. Walk with me?" He asks. I can't help but stare into his gorgeous eyes as he asks me this.
"She's walking with us. Thanks anyway" Harry announces as he grabs my arm and pulls me away from Mattheo.
"Uh- see you in class?" I call back as I walk behind Harry slightly. I'm not exactly sure what that was. I guess Harry is not taking a liking to Voldemorts son. I never scripted anything about Mattheo's family life so this will be interesting. I look back to see Mattheo watching me as Harry pulls me away.
"Harry what was that?" I ask as he lets go of my arm
"You don't want to hang around him, trust me. He's trouble" he replies. I can't be bothered questioning him further. He doesn't have to like Mattheo, but I definitely don't want to be pulled away anytime Mattheo tries to talk to me.
We finally enter the astronomy classroom and are greeted with a teacher I haven't actually seen before. Her name is Professor Sinistra.
"Good morning class" she says as we all walk into the classroom. "Please take a seat, wherever is fine. Do not sit next to someone who is going to distract you"
"I can't sit next to Shelby then" I hear Theo chuckle quietly from behind me. I can feel my face burn slightly at this behaviour. I've never had someone openly speak this way about me before. Especially someone I've just met.
Harry and Ron sit beside each other, and other students partner up also. As I make my way to an empty seat I hear someone call my name. It's Fatima.
"Do you want to sit with me?" She asks happily. I'm so glad she's here.
"Yes please" I reply, walking up to her desk and taking a seat beside her.
"I see Theo's taking a liking to you then?" She giggles after I sit down. I smile at her awkwardly as she says this. I'm not used to the attention.
"He seems nice. Everybody does actually"
"Alright students! Today we will have an introductory lesson to astronomy as this is the first year everybody will be attending the course. It will be simple if you pay attention...should you choose not to, Mr Nott, you will fail. Understand?" I look over to Theo who is already disrupting the class by making paper aeroplanes and flying them across the room.
"Yes of course professor. Don't worry, you have absolutely nothing to worry about. I will be quiet and prompt and dedicated! I take my studies very seriously" he replies, sitting back down in his seat and acting abnormally studious. I can see Pansy attempting to hold in her laughter.
"I do hope so. Let's begin"
Professor Sinistra got us to memorise a few constellations and then we went over how to fill in a star chart. It was quite interesting actually, some students, however, did not agree.
