After Daichi had dropped him off a chapter before—
Suga dropped his bag on the floor and slipped off his shoes. "Mom, I'm home!"He didn't stop to greet his cat and of course it got offended, swirling its pretty gray tail in between his legs and following him up the stairs. Suga's room was small and had a surprisingly dark aesthetic for someone who seemed like a soft boy. The door even had his name painted in red.
Entering his room and yawning, he sat down at a black metal desk with several desktops. He pulled up an art program and began to sketch. It was very zen-like with the lofi, the natural light from his two windows, and the purring of his cat in his lap. He spent an hour peacefully drawing and scrolling on Pinterest, until it was suddenly interrupted by his younger brother crashing through the door.
"Oniisannnnnn!" He screeched, jumping over the low bookshelf and flopping onto Suga's bed. "What are ya up to? I'm so freaking bored..."
Suga sighed and turned in his chair. "Not much. I have a bit of homework to do, but other than that I'm just wasting time."
"You wanna come and play Halo with me? I don't have anything to do either. And I was hoping that since you haven't played with me in a while we could play a bit longer? I know you don't like it that much..."
It took a bit of convincing, but Suga was eventually led downstairs to play video games with Sora. His brother was in his first year of middle school and had just been invited to the wonders of video games. It was surprising how talented Sora had become at it because he'd only been actively participating for like three months. Sugawara was beginning to wonder if he should introduce him to Kenma's Youtube channel.
"Koshi, I'm starting to think that you actually like Halo, but you don't want to think you do. Am I right?" Sora smiled.
Tossing the controller on the couch and heading to their kitchen, Suga laughed and said, "Halo is alright. I find it funny that they chose an angelic name for a gun-heavy game, don't you? Hey, do you want Pockys? We've got strawberry and chocolate left..."
The two were getting along reasonably well, as they had recently fought and were going to get in trouble with their parents if they didn't treat each other decently for a while. Though if you were to watch them daily you'd be surprised how little they actually interacted. Suga was pretty sure he hadn't even mentioned Sora once to the rest of the team, but he thought that Daichi and Asahi at least knew he had a brother.
The evening passed on quietly. Sora and Sugawara's dad came home around seven and they ate quickly with their parents. Their home life was plain and they went to bed never dreaming that the next day would be any different.
The next morning Suga ended up running desperately late. He'd stayed up too late drawing, as one does, and pulled out of his driveway the exact time his school bell was ringing. Slamming on the gas, he sped down the freeway, soaring past stoplights and being all around reckless. He wasn't normally this careless with his speed, but his first period class had a strict teacher that would mark kids absent even if they were two minutes late.
He gunned the brakes and attempted to stop at a stoplight that had turned red just seconds before he could've made it. Suga had gotten his car from his dad and it honestly wasn't the safest. The brakes were obviously cheap and he didn't make the stop in time. They completely gave way and he spun out into the intersection, facing the opposite direction he was trying to go.
Suga cussed and tried to get back into his lane, and thankfully there weren't any cars coming. For the moment. 'How did I even end up here? I thought dad said that he'd fixed these stupid brakes two weeks ago!' He struggled to get the car to start turning quickly and he caught a glimpse of a blue truck speeding toward him in his rearview mirror. Cussing even worse, Suga floored the gas but he wasn't fast enough.
The blue truck was getting closer and closer in his mirror and his car with its transmission issues wasn't going to get him out in time. He braced for impact, knowing that the truck was either going to stop or hadn't seen him yet. He opened his eyes, realizing that there might still be time if he could just focus, but the truck came speeding past him, most likely thinking they could sneak around him.
The thing was, the driver of the truck didn't own that car. It was her boyfriend's and he had loaned it to her for the day. She wasn't used to driving a car three times the size of her own and rammed into the back of Suga's small Nisan.
He screamed, the car spun in a beautiful circle and crashed into the stoplight, still red. Suga's head slammed into the steering wheel, then it rolled and whacked the door's window. He stopped screaming.
