A/N: I want to apologize for leaving you for so long. I've always been honest about my mental health and recently a lot of changes took place. Some of you may know that I broke up with my boyfriend. We were together for 6 years and I only ever loved him as a friend. But I stayed because I was afraid of dating and afraid of hurting him. It scared me to be vulnerable with another man and I didn't want to get hurt again. We ended the relationship amicable. No bloodshed or body count. We remain friends. He will be moving out at the end of the month and I have already made plans to renovate my house and make it my own.
In the meantime, I have started to approach the dating realm again. It's scary and makes me feel inadequate and unworthy. My friends always shower me with compliments of how smart, talented, handsome, muscular, etc. I am. They tell me I'm a 10 but I've never been treated like one. My experience has always been profoundly negative and at the risk of sounding dramatic, I think I have a lot of PTSD related to dating. Now that I'm doing it again those old hurts are resurfacing. I thought I would be strong enough this time around but I'm still the same mess. I've had to set standards for myself because I'm so accustomed to excusing behaviors and making allowances for others, even when I know they're wrong. I put them before myself and convince myself it's the right thing to do, the nice thing to do. I look for reasons why they're right and I must be wrong. And I can't do that anymore. I have to stop accepting those behaviors. I won't hold my hands out for crumbs anymore.
Anyway, I'm back in some capacity. I'll try to update more.
Luminous Avenger
Autumn finally arrived, gracing the world with cool, crisp days and the beautiful snap of shades of red, orange and yellow in the trees. Dean smiled at the entire scenario as he sat between Thor and Kyle.
"It is a beautiful day for a wedding," Thor observed.
Magni whimpered in Dean's arms and he gently rocked the boy. Modi sat up in Thor's arms and looked around with an amused expression.
"I love this time of year," Dean sighed. He rested his head on Thor's shoulder.
"Reed looks great," Kyle said from the other side of Dean.
The groom stood at the alter with Ben beside him, an excited and blissful expression on his face. Thor understood exactly what the groom was feeling. That blissful sense that it was finally happening- the day he was marrying the love of his life. He looked from Modi to Dean as he held Magni and it made his heart so full. His family was perfect to him. After centuries of living, they were the finest part of him.
"What's that dreamy expression for?" Dean asked as he leaned into Thor and kissed his cheek.
"Just thinking about our wedding day," Thor said. "How perfect it was."
"That was a really nice wedding," Kyle agreed.
"That'll be you someday," Dean whispered to him.
Kyle smirked and leaned into Dean. "Ever since we went to the other universe and met Kyle Rogers I've been secretly writing my name that way," he whispered back.
"Hey, what are you two whispering about?" Steve pointedly asked.
"Nothing," Dean and Kyle said in a tone that said anything but.
Thor and Steve shared a knowing look. "The two of you had better behave," Thor said.
"I have no idea what you could be talking about," Dean said.
"We always behave," Kyle added.
Whatever retort Thor or Steve may have had was suddenly interrupted by the sound of the wedding march being played. Standing up, they turned to watch as Sue came walking down the aisle on Johnny's arm.
