"I had heard rapid footsteps, as if you were running, my angel."
When I reached out to touch this person, I felt nothing, like I was grabbing something that did not exist.
"Where and who are you? Are you here to try to convince me to let them take all that I have left?", I had asked the person.
"My name is Erik, and I am a simple ghost with mystical powers. I had listened in to what happened to you, and have thought of some reasons why you were running. Do not fear, for I will not bring harm upon you, angel."
I felt a small gust of wind touch my shoulder. Erik seems to be the source of the putrid, sulfur scent. He is a ghost, as to why I cannot see him. I had many questions, all of which were about Erik. But I had only one question to actually ask him.
"Why are you calling me 'angel', Erik?"
His response?
"Angels are, in my view, humans who possess the power to get through what seems to be impossible. Thus, they are strong and can do anything...plus, they are quite breaktaking when you see them..."
Erik muttered the last part, but I could hear it through the silence of the woods. My heart seemed to beat faster when he said that, and my face was rosy pink. Maybe I had been running too much?
"A-anyways, you wish to keep all that's left with you, while escaping those who wish death upon you?," Erik asked.
Judging on that small stutter, maybe Erik felt the same? But to answer his spoken question, I simply nodded my head.
"Very well. I shall rescue you from that tragic fate."
Suddenly, a piece of paper had appeared in front of me, with music notes on it.
"Now, you must sing what is written on this paper, and I am guaranteed you will be saved from your despair, my angel."
Despite the fact that this ghost was one I barely knew, I was willing to trust him. I sang my heart out. I felt a tingly sensation all over my body, and I felt like I was walking on air. Except, when I looked down, I was actually floating off!
"Sing, my angel of music! Sing for me!"
I continued singing. When I looked back at Erik, I could really see him! He had piercing gray eyes, soft and dark hair, and a transparent body, wearing what I thought a refined gentleman should wear. Erik actually smelt like old, fresh, books! Quite the fitting image, actually.
I reached out to touch Erik again, in his face, and a pink color tinged his visage. Erik did not move my hand away, surprisingly. He simply leaned his head and moved it closer into my hand. Erik smiled at me, and my heart was pounding really quickly, again. Why do I keep feeling this way when near him, when he speaks, or when he smiles?
This time I felt joyful to sing louder, longer, and better. I was ready for whatever else Erik wanted me to do.
"Sing!"
I belted out the highest note I could reach. I finally felt free and happy with him!
"I have saved you from your doom! Nothing can harm you anymore."
Erik started to sing.
"Let your soul take you where you want to be!"
