The next day Hopper woke up first, and Joyce was still asleep. He looked at her for a moment and kissed her forehead, then went downstairs and into the kitchen. He decided to make breakfast for the whole family. He made scrambled eggs and toast. He made tea for the kids, and coffee for himself and Joyce. First, Will, El, and Jonathan got up and went into the kitchen, then Joyce. She looked at Hopper with sleepy eyes and said, "Thank you Jim, you're loved." As Joyce and Hopper were eating, they noticed the kids exchanging smirks among themselves as if they were hearing something at night. - What's so funny? Hopper asked. - Nothing nothing. We are just happy that you are together - they replied in line with the smiles on their faces. "We too," said Joyce. "I'm happy to have you because you are my family now and I love you very much." Everyone left the table and cuddled together like a real family. Then the kids went to school while Joyce and Hopper washed the dishes. It was Friday, so Hopper planned to get engaged to Joyce today. When they finished washing the dishes, he walked over to her, put his arms around her waist and asked, "Would you like a little ride to the lake today?" - He asked. It's about 30 minutes from Hawkins. - Sure, honey, and on what occasion? "Just because I love you," he replied, trying not to betray him, but it was obvious that he was upset with something. Joyce cupped his cheek and asked, "What's going on Jim?" - Nothing, it's alright Joyce. After work, I'll pick you up, we'll come home for a while, ask Jonathan to stay with El and Will, and then we'll go. She approached him and kissed him tenderly on the cheek. "Okay, honey," she said, and they left the house. Hopper drove her to work, and he drove to the station. When it was close to 5 pm he went out and drove for Joyce. "Hey," he said with a slight smile. What are we going? "Sure, I'll just close the shop," she replied. As they drove home, Joyce noticed his hands were shaking, so she put her hand on his and asked, "Jim, are you really okay?" You can tell me about anything that bothers you. - It's really okay, Joyce. When they got home, they asked Jonathan to look after El and Will, and then Joyce went to change into jeans, a nice checkered shirt, and a black corduroy jacket. Hopper also changed from his police uniform and put on jeans, a white shirt, and a black denim jacket. When Joyce saw that he was wearing a white shirt, she asked, "Is it important?" Should I change? "Well, yes, but you look cute and you don't need to change clothes, and it's cool anyway, so don't do it or you'll catch a cold," he replied and smiled at her. Joyce recoiled a smile. "Then we can go," she said. They left the house and got into the car. Hopper was too nervous to talk to her on the way, so Joyce fell asleep a little annoyed. When they were there, he lightly rubbed her arm to wake her up, and she opened her eyes, looked at him and dreamily asked, "Are we there yet?" I'm so sorry I fell asleep, but you didn't speak and ... - You have nothing to apologize for. I'm sorry I didn't say anything all the way because you were really right before. I was nervous. They got out of the car and walked closer to the lake. "It's so beautiful Jim," she said when she looked at him. "It's true Joyce," he replied, putting his arm around her. Later, he suddenly picked it up, and she laughed in surprise. "What are you doing, Jim?" she asked, and he sat her on the hood of the car and walked away for a while. Joyce stared at him in surprise as he walked closer to the lake holding his face. He was very nervous but finally told himself it was now or never. He returned to her and got down on one knee. - Joyce Byers, will you marry me? Tears welled up in her eyes and she answered YES without hesitation. He was also touched. He put the ring on her finger and carried her away. She wrapped her legs around his waist and he kissed her, then set her down on the ground and tearfully pressed their foreheads together. - I love you Jim - I love you too Joyce - I'm so happy, and you must have been so nervous because you thought I would refuse? she asked. - I'm so happy too, Joyce. Yes, I thought you would not agree, I was afraid of it, but I would love you anyway - Oh Jim I would never say no to you, because I care about you so much, I love you and I want it - I care about you a lot too and I want to spend with you the rest of your life. They sat for a few more minutes on the hood of the car. Hopper put his arm around her and she rested her head against his chest. Then they got in the car, Hopper started the engine and Joyce grabbed his hand and they drove all the way home
