Chapter 16: Gone.

Nicoles POV

When I wake up I'm back in my room.

How?

But then I remember everything that happened.

Emmett.

When I check on my phone I have about 20 missed calls from Emmett but only one voicemail.

Hmmm. Might as well listen to it.

"Hey Nicky, I just think we both need time to ourselves... So I called my Mom and set up something. You might hate me for this, but I know that we'll work it out when I come back..."

What does he mean by 'come back'

"I'm going to go visit my parents in London. I'll be back in a year. Just in time for our Senior year together like I promised when we were younger...."

"Oh god please no..." I whisper

"Sorry I have to go board my flight... I'll try call you when I get there but it's going to be hard cause you know... time difference. Bye Nicky, I love you."

Then the line clicks dead.

"No. He wouldn't. No..." I repeat to myself

I grab the nearest object and chuck it across the room and fall to my knees

"oh my god." I put my hand on my face and start to cry harder

"Nicole!" I hear Bailey yell

"Bailey!" I yell back getting up to find my best friend

I meet her half at the bottom of the staircase and throw myself in her arms

"Bailey! He's gone. He left. He left me!" I sob in her shoulder

"Who's gone?" She asks confused

"Emmett! He left! He went to visit his parents! For a year! and all I get is a stupid voicemail." I cry

"Shhhhhh... Nicky it's okay. You'll get through this." She coos

I pull away and look at her through my tears

"How am I going to get through this when the guy that I know I love... is over a thousand miles away?" I ask her

"You will... I know you can because you Nicky, are strong enough." She says in a soft tone

"Bail..." I start but my voice breaks "I can't..." I say through sobs

"You can Nicky... I'll be here for you every day till he comes back." She hugs me again

I continue to cry in her shoulder for a while till I finally stop and pull away.

I let out a humorless laugh.

"Thanks for everything bail..." I trail off wiping the tears from my eyes

"Don't worry about it, lord knows how much you've done for me." She smiles

"What do I do I now?" I ask her

"Well first you can go shower considering that you fell asleep yesterday and didn't wake up till now. Which is about..." She looks at her watch "11:00" She finishes

I stare at her in shock. I slept for that long? Oh god no wonder Emmett called 20 times.

Emmett.

"Bail.. Can we not speak of Emmett till we know I've moved on" I ask her playing with my fingers

"Definitely. Now go shower! You smell!" She teases playfully

"Okay Okay." I smile at her. I know I can get through this.. It will just take time and the help from my best friend Bailey Manchester.
