Jarik and Xista had been walking for hours now; so long that city had given way to lush countryside dotted with grazing animals Jarik didn't recognize.

When he asked Xista why they couldn't go on a speeder or hovercar, she replied with the same 'don't ask questions' spiel.

Sighing, Jarik shifted the weight of his bag onto his shoulder for the billionth time and continued on the dreary, exhausting walk.

What seemed like ages later, Jarik finally saw a twinkling lights again. It was the spaceport!

Just as he was about to take a couple of running steps forward, Xista grabbed his arm.

"You idiot," she hissed. "Did you really think it was a good idea to run right into a guarded spaceport that is meant for the rich and powerful?"

Jarik gave a noncommital shrug, which seemed to anger Xista further. He closed his eyes and waited for the inevitable onslaught of scolding and insults, but nothing came.

It seemed that Xista's mind was on other matters, primarily getting into the spaceport and taking a ship without anyone seeing.

After she scanned the area for a few minutes, Xista started walking forward ata brisk pace with Jarik not far behind.

"You found a way in?"

"Would I be walking this way if I hadn't?"

Suddenly, she gripped Jarik's arm and started sprinting across the grassy field. Once they made it to a low-lying building, Xista released Jarik and started walking normally...right into the crowded spaceport alleyway.

Jarik was about to question Xista, but then he saw her unworried, confident gait and high chin and decided to go with it.

"This way, if you please," Xista said in a polite tone of voice.

That didn't sound like Xista at all. Still, Jarik continued on after murmuring an "Okay," albeit slightly more cautious.

As they rounded a bend in the alley, Jarik froze.

They were about a dozen Falleen policemen and guards standing there, weapons at the ready.

"You are under arrest for the posession of illegal firearms, and irresponsible flying!"

Jarik whipped his head to the side. It was Xaver!

Slowly, he turned back to Xista, only to find that she was now standing by the guards.

He'd been betrayed!
