Wednesday morning. Sunny day. That means only one thing: me birthday. 16 years old. 16! Fuckin' hell. How did that happen? Anyway, the important thing is that City are playing at Maine Road tonight, and me, me dad, and me mates are going. Mam dun't agree. She's staying at home, probably watching Corrie or summat. Me favourite player is Chris Greenacre cos he's an absolute wanker at football. The best of the best. Definitely better than me. I don't play that often. Only after school, when I'm not doing History homework. That teacher, Mr Pringle, is an absolute dickhead. He drones on and on about Henry VIII for goodness knows how long. 20 minutes? 20 hours, more like. He gets on me tits he does. I only picked History cos I din't wanna pick Geography. It's an absolute shithole.
Very sorry I forgot to introduce myself. I'm Freddie. Freddie Thomson. And I'm in a band called Shakermaker. I just sing, but the other four play bass and drums and guitar. Our favourite band is Oasis, cos they're mad fer it. Proper cool. Bunch of cunts like us. They've just released What's the story Morning Glory. Absolutely fuckin blows my head off. Just as biblical as Definitely Maybe. They're proper class. Better than the Spice Girls by a fuckin mile. They're absolute shite. Who the fuck would listen to those bitches? Not me. Maybe fourteen year old girls, but not me.
I'll tell ya a teacher I do like. Mr Beckett. He teaches media. Absolute class subject. He lets us use the new computers and we get to make our own little films and album sleeves and magazine designs. And one lesson we studied Oasis and compared them to Blur. I mean, come on! We ALL know who's the better band. If I do A-Levels, I'll definitely do media. Along with Physics and P.E.
Now, you're probably wondering what I got for me birthday. I got Adidas trainers, a watch, and a brand new football. Oh yeah: and I got A Northern Soul, the second album by The Verve. Fuckin' mega. Me mam must've bought it from the shop down the road last week. It only came out yesterday. Anyway, enough about that: there's a game to be had...
