You opened your eyes slowly and noticed the sun had already risen, bathing your body in golden light.
You stretched and stood up, rubbing the sleepiness out of your eyes as you did. Looking around, you saw Eros standing at the end of the long hallway, waiting patiently. He noticed you staring at him and smiled.
"Good morning darling!" he called out, waving his arms in the air excitedly, "Ready to start our journey?" You nodded silently, still stunned at having slept in late, which was unusual for you.
Eros grabbed your hand and began dragging you down the halls towards another room. After he was sure you were following closely behind, he let go of your hand and held his arm outstretched."Hold this please."
He handed you something heavy. You frowned as you stared down at the item.It was some sort of necklace made out of a shiny metal, with a crystal hanging from the middle. There was a tiny hole in the middle, right where the clasp should be. What the hell? You raised an eyebrow questioningly. The prince laughed slightly.
"Well don't just stand there" he said in annoyance as he rolled his eyes, "put it on" he commanded while pulling his arm back and turning his back.
Your face heated up instantly and your eyes wandered to the floor."Umm...why?" you inquired, feeling incredibly shy. The boy sighed exasperatedly. "What are you, stupid? It means I'm escorting you around and I want you to wear it".
You swallowed nervously and reluctantly slid the chain over your head, carefully placing the necklace on top of your head. You stared at it blankly, trying to figure out how it worked. "Can I open my eyes yet?" Eros asked sheepishly and hesitantly raising your head.
Eros smirked as he stared down at you. "Yes you can" you replied teasingly, Before Eros could say anything a guard came rushing over to you.
"My lord, the carriage is ready to depart " he informed "we are going to ride through the woods. There's a small path that leads us through the forest, but we'll be staying in a nearby village to avoid any possible trouble" he explained. Eros nodded, "Very well." Then he stepped aside and beckoned to you, "come with me". You hesitated momentarily before deciding that you might as well go. After all, there wasn't much you could do here anyway. With that, you both entered the coachman's compartment. He had two horses harnessed and waited outside for you.
Once you both were safely seated, he pulled the reigns and brought the horses out of the stable.
Before the horse even got far the sound of horses galloping reached your ears, causing you to look up in surprise.Eros quickly glanced at you before looking back ahead at the road again. "They seem rather loud to me, huh darling?" He questioned, smirking lightly. You chuckled softly.
"Not really" you answered truthfully. You weren't scared of them anymore, you were more concerned by what they looked like than you were scared of them. You knew the horse wouldn't hurt you."Well, if you don't mind I would love to see a real unicorn sometime" Eros stated chuckling as he looked at you. His face became serious as he added "but it isn't safe, even for someone like you".
As soon as Eros finished talking, you both felt the carriage lurch forward and stop. It was then that you realized the horses had stopped, and the driver was shouting angrily at Eros who was now getting off the car.
"Sir" he shouted impatiently, "the carriage has broken down and I won't be able to continue traveling tonight". You gasped. " Then we just take the horses and ride them to village " Eros said , dismissing the man.
He jumped onto the back of the horse and turned around, gesturing for you to jump on behind him. You followed without hesitation. As soon as your legs touched the horses, he gave the reins to a stable hand. He turned to you once more.
