Chapter one:
Blaze's POV
The sky is pink and orange and darkening by the second. The rustling in the trees is about the only thing keeping me awake as I swing slowly on the rusty swings.
"Misty!" I call out.
"Over here," Misty replies
I catch a glance at the treasure chest shaped sandbox and can see her hair whipping back and forth wildly on the wind.
"Hey Blaze, so why am I here again?" Misty questioned.
"Well.., I thought we could talk about prom dates and how we are going to scrap enough money together for prom dresses."
I knew I his wasn't a good way to phrase considering my family has all the money in the world, but I would never ask them for anything. A grin coated my face as I pulled out my iPhone. I couldn't wait to show her the prom dress I had seen online. It was the prettiest strapless dress with a blue diamond top that stopped just above my waist. Then it fluffed out slightly and flowed down to my ankles. Misty shrugged "As if I could do better," then she laughed.
"Hey Blaze, that dress totally goes with your blue locks," says Misty with a smirk. Rage started building up in me the second that past word rolled off her tongue.
"Very funny Misty Lynn Wood, not everyone is born with perfect hair" Misty grinned and flipped her golden hair dramatically. I stuck my tongue out at her playfully and returned to the dress search.
I see a boy with messy hair walk towards Misty. My head fills with disgust as he avowedly asked her to prom. "Yeah right," Misty replies laughing. I felt a bit of remorse for the boy as he walked away in dismay, his head held down in shame.
"Don't you feel bad Misty?" I asked her surprise seeping into my voice.
"Nah" she replied. "I am waiting for Kruse to ask me." I wiggle my eyebrows at her. "Ooh! Does he like you?" I ask her excitement creeping into my voice. Even though I knew the answer. She starts to open her mouth to respond, then closes it abruptly. Her eyes focus into something right over my shoulder. I turn around and see that a van with the words, Stay Inn plasters across the side. We stare at it for a minute or two. An eerie feeling starts brewing in stomach when no one emerges from the van for two and a half minutes.
"M-maybe we should g-go," I stuttered as I begin to stand up. Misty nods at me in agreement and we both brush the sand off our legs.
I turn around and bend over to pick up my phone from where I discarded it when the van came. Without turning around I hear a bloodcurdling scream.
I whip around my blue hair smacking against my face. I scan Pirate Ship Park and my eyes finally land on Misty. I feel as though the world has stopped. I see a gruff man putting s potato sack over Misty's head and shoving her into the van. "Misty!" I scream out, my voice echoing out across the playground. Suddenly, I feel a pair of calloused hands grab my arms. A rough rope binds my hands and I let out a strangled screa for help. Then the guy shoved s gag into my mouth and everything goes black.
