Chapter 16: The Immortal Couple Reunites With the Kids

The couple searched for the location of Zhou Zishu by tracing the deteriorating presence of his Ki that was mixed with a sprinkle of Wei Wuxian's spiritual power when he tried to peer into his illness. And along with Wen Kexing's soulmate, they also searched for the young Zhang Chengling. But the both of them were then left bewildered at the fact that they two mortals were no longer within the Four Seasons Manor, however the fact that they were no longer within that place was not the worst of their worries. Rather, what made them both anxious was the fact that the two of them were separated.

With Zhou Zishu being accompanied by Cao Weining and Gu Xiang, along with several others that were unfamiliar to them, Wei Wuxian soon came to the conclusion that something had happened in the time they had left. While Zhang Chengling only had that annoying mortal who couldn't move on from the past of Wen Kexing, in an unfamiliar location and surrounded by potential enemies. It made the two concerned for his well-being, but they chose not to dwell on it as they were certain that the young boy had his reasons, so they decided to first visit the bigger group.

"Shall we go pay them a visit, Lan Zhan?" Wei Wuxian questioned as he dug through the sleeves of his beloved and pulled out a teleportation talisman, waving it in the air with a smile. "I want to make sure that they're alright."

"Mn, but we will use my spiritual power to make the journey." Lan Wangji said as he took hold of the teleportation talisman that the man he loves fished out from within his sleeves. "Though you are stronger than me. Due to your reluctance to make full use of your golden core, favoring the demonic path, you have yet to become acquainted with your spiritual power."

Wei Wuxian pouted. "I am acquainted with it, Lan Zhan. You're just too protective of me."

Lan Wangji shook his head. "I will believe Wei Ying. But only once you're comfortable with using Suibian again."

"Unfair." Wei Wuxian huffed as he crossed his arms while puffing his cheeks out like an indignant child. "Just because I prefer riding Bichen with you does not mean that I cannot use Suibian."

"Use does not mean comfortable." Lan Wangji returned, unamused and clearly not believing the words of Wei Wuxian. "Wei Ying can do what he wants, but when expanding large amounts of spiritual power, I will do it."

Wei Wuxian sighed, then wrapped his arms around Lan Wangji's waist with a small frown, acknowledging his defeat in this minor argument of theirs. "Fine. We shall do it your way, then."

Lan Wangji smiled and placed a chaste kiss on Wei Wuxian's forehead before light flashed from where they stood, then they disappeared without leaving a trace that they were once there.

"Who are you?!"

Jing Beiyuan along with Wu Xi paused mid-sentence to turn towards the entrance of the dining hall, their figures tense as they watched the door, ready to protect their friend and the young martial artist that were in their presence.

When the commotion increased in intensity, Ping An turned towards the two with a serious expression then nodded at them before Jing Beiyuan turned to the three they were determined to keep out of harm's way. "Once the intruder comes, we'll act as a distraction," he said to them, his eyes narrowed to show that he didn't want them to utter a single protest to the decision he made with Wu Xi. "Use that chance to run away."

"Please don't run away." Wei Wuxian called out with a sigh following soon after as he appeared in their line of sight. "Do you know how hard it was for us to look for you kids?"

A lie, but did anyone aside from the immortal couple need to know that? No.

Jing Beiyuan, Wu Xi, and Ping An's expressions darken. Their bodies tense as they were about to attack the intruders, but were left dumbfounded when Gu Xiang stood from where she sat and greeted the intruder with a gigantic hug. "Uncle Wei! You're back!"
