She pushed open the door, and walked in, Yomi trailing behind her. And as soon as he shut the door, she spun to face him.
"What was the meaning of that?"
"The meaning of what?" He feigned ignorance, and this made her seethe in annoyance.
She marched towards him, and poked against his firm chest. "Your girlfriend? Really?"
"You went with it." He said in a shrug.
"Because... Because..." She stuttered.
"You should be thankful. I just saved you from some sort of judgement, and embarrassment." He walked past her to the center of the room.
"I didn't ask you to." She retorted, and turned to face him.
He cocked his head to the side, peering at her as though he wanted to read her soul, but Dinma wouldn't have it. She brushed past him to the bed with her luggages, and tossed them on the bed.
She should be happy, right? Given that Yomi had voluntary decided to save her from what could have been an embarrassment, but it seemed odd. For he had rejected her the previous day, and was all of a sudden willing to play fake boyfriend with her. It left her wondering, what was his game?
"Looks like we are going to be a couple for a few days." He said from behind her.
She clenched her fist, and without turning she asked. "Why do you seem so excited about this? What are you playing at Yomi?"
His tone became serious, "I'm not playing at anything. I'm only helping a friend."
That word again. Friend. It seemed like it was taunting her.
"I call dips on the bed." He said in a light hearted tone.
"What?" Her brain processed what he had said, and she turned to face him. "Don't be silly abeg. I'm the lady here." He's got to be joking.
"So? I said it first. I'm taking the bed."
"Yomi, that's not very gentlemanly." She took slow and purposeful steps to the bed and without thinking, she thumped into the bed, sprawling on it like a starfish. "Who's got the bed now Yomi?"
He dropped the bags he had on the floor, and walked towards her, taking a hold of her sprawled legs, and pulled her, but she was quick to grab onto the headboard.
"You're cheating!" She yelled.
He dropped her legs. "You're the one who got into the bed after I said it first."
"Just take it as your loss."
"Never." He crawled into the bed, as Dinma dragged herself up. And in slow tentative movements, he neared her causing her to back against the headboard. "We could share the bed." His voice came out in a husky whisper.
Her poor heart jumped erratically against her chest for he got so close that she could taste his breath. She eyed his lips and her body in its own will, inclined towards him. Her eyes were only closed half a second, when his phone began ringing in his pocket.
They jerked apart, embarrassment coloured on her face. He only murmured an apology, and leapt out of the bed to take his call.
She felt her scalp prickle. When would she learn that he would never want her the way she wanted him.
So with his back towards her while he spoke quietly to his phone, she took this as an opportunity to look around the suite. She had been so lost in anger with Yomi that she had failed to notice how magnificent the suite was. It was a large one, the windows were tall and covered half of the walls, they offered her a sight of the beach and the scenery of the resort. The floors and walls were immaculate white, and the ceilings were far high. The bed- she snuggled into it-was soft, and she liked the feel of the bedsheets against her skin.
