Your POV

You squint your eyes as you wipe your face.

Your alarm, and pet Yorkie, waking you up in the process.

Roxy happily pants with her huge black eyes staring into your exhausted (E/C) orbs.

"Mornin' Roxy." You tiredly moan out, your morning voice begging to be fed water.

Roxy tilts her head while her little ears move downwards, causing an adorable smile to grace your lips. You picked her up, giving her a kiss on the head before heading into your bathroom.

You sat Roxy down on the double-sinked counter before grabbing your toothbrush's container. Opening it while turning on the water, you brush through your teeth that have managed to stay pearly white all these years.

"Y'know Grandma's gonna kick your ass for having Roxy there, right?" Your sister comes into view in the mirror reflection. You roll your eyes.

"Deja, not right now," You rolled your eyes before spitting out your minty toothpaste. Deja sighs, shaking her head as her short stylish black hair waves across her face.

"Have you decided yet?" She questions, making you go silent. You pick up Roxy before scooching past Deja and heading downstairs. She rolls her eyes before scurrying after you.

"Uh, I'm talkin' to you!" She tries interrogating you.

"And I'm ignoring you." You grumble a comeback before letting Roxy run around the back porch of your grandparent's house.

"For fuck's sake, (Y/N)! Don't you see this is the sign you've been waiting for?!" She screeches, making you slightly cower and cross your arms over your chest.

"You're my sister and I love you, bean. But stop being dumb!" Deja rolls her eyes before lighting a blunt, she blows out the gray smoke as you go silent.

Deja's opinion had always mattered the most to you. You would always appreciate her advice, but sometimes she could be "too real" with her words. At least that's how you saw it. Despite that, she would always have your back in the toughest of situations. Whether being scolded by your family or dealing with other kinds of drama, she's truly there. You'd refer to her as your true soulmate but would never admit it out loud.

"I know!" You burst out before exhaling, rubbing your temple. The slight hangover from last night is pouring into your head.

"I just need more time... okay? We'll talk about it later." You try to breathe out calmly. Deja glares but exhales and hands you your own blunt.

"In case I'm not back by morning, and you've decided to go, which I truly hope you do, I want you to know something. I'll always be by your side. Through our ups and downs even in deep water, I'll be there. Always remember that, ok?" She tells you before walking off, leaving you to sulk on your own.

You didn't even think twice at that thought before lighting up your blunt and inhaling its contents. Blowing the smoke out into the warm Atlanta air, a gentle breeze brushes over your face while Roxy runs around the open field happily. You smile as you watch her hop and prance around like a deer, causing a heartfelt laugh to erupt from your throat.
