Freddy woke up with an incredibly stuff nose. So congested was it, that when he inhaled through his mouth, he got a nasty bit of post nasal drip that was something akin to water.

He tried shifting his head to the side and with it, a gelatinous mass shifted within. He felt it's pressure taunting him within his head, seemingly growing and pushing against the walls of his sinuses. It seemed go expand without the thought of consequence.

He tried to remain still, tilting his head back to see if it might drain, either into his throat or out of his nostrils. Stubbornly and without concern, it remained.

On his nightstand, he kept a box of tissues, which would give him great relief as he gripped the topmost paper sticking up from the boxes plastic. He put it to his nose and attempted to blow. Nothing. He was truly stopped up. His ears popped as the air he attempted to force out bounced of the membrane plugging his airway.

The attempt did seem to agitate his viscous foe. The foundations of a sneeze was building in the bridge of his nose. He held his breath and welcomed the coming the relief. The agitated sparks danced along the borders of his nostrils and his lungs readied themselves for the spasm that they would soon create.

With a quick draw of breath, his body dislodged the stubborn mucus from it's place. For seconds he felt it trickling into his nose and he staged the tissue at the openings. The hairs of his nose were pushed aside as the mucus cork was seemingly shredded and the remnants flowed outward.

Another quick draw and it was expelled, though a sharp twinge of pain scattered about the surface of the tubes that made up his nose. As though his sneeze had been so violent, the air itself cut his nostrils.

He waited a moment. Something wasn't right. The hairs of his nose continued to dance, but their partner's danced similarly. He thought nothing at first, but they seemed to change direction as if twirling around one another.

The cutting pain circled the irritating brushing of his hairs. Not only this, but it began to weave through his nostrils like a snake in tall grass. He resisted the urge to sniff. Something was squirming within.

With a shaking hand, he reached with the intent to pinch his nose shut. He did this, a little to quickly, and was met with astounding pain and a reaction from the worm like thing in his nose.

Both sides had been occupied by a soft membranous tail. At least that's what it felt like when pain wasn't flooding his senses.

In the cavity of his face, against the back wall leading into his brain case, a small pinch was felt followed by a pain so great it circled back into nothingness. A flood of intrusive thoughts invaded his mind.

Incubate.

He had to pull out whatever had made it's home inside of him. With great haste, he flung the blankets from himself and ran for his bathroom vanity, where he found a small set of tweezers.

Nourish.

He reached into his nose and gripped the membrane that intertwined with his own snot and hair. Hesitation set in. Pain was barrier that he was unsure he could break, no matter the trouble he may have been in.

Nurture.

He could feel the probing sensation scraping along the bottom of his brain, working itself to his pons. If he was going to act, it would need to be quick.

Incubate.

With a deep breath, he yanked with all of his might. To his surprise, the pain did not intensify, instead disappearing from that nostril. Holding the tweezers at eye level now, he found that some sort of appendage similar to that of a jellyfish's oral arm.

Rescind

He could feel the movement at the bottom of his brain moving back towards his sinus cavity. Relieved but not out of trouble yet, he reached further up. Where he expected to scratch himself, he was met with painless resistance. The arm in the other nostril seemed to reel.

Recuperate

He managed to work the tweezers into gripping the small bubble within his head, pinching something akin to the skin of a rotting grape. He pulled, and a gush of fluid flooded his head, expelling from his nose and down into his throat.

He coughed and sputtered, trying not to swallow any of what had been released. For the last time, he reached into the other nostril and pulled what was left out from his head, feeling the probe exit his brain case.

The amorphous mass fell into the sink and freddy fell to his knees, weakened by an overwhelming sense of relief. For a moment he felt the urge to cry, yet stifled it in favor of satisfying his curiosity.

Pulling himself over the sink, he peered inside of it's basin. The remains of what seemed to be a jellyfish lay dead inside. He shuddered.

Outside of his window a glass broke, calling his attention. He moved and peered outside. Backlit by the moon, a creature of immeasurable size floated over the city. Depositing the rest of its spores.
