The row of clothes on her bed had turned into a pile. Half of her wardrobe lay in a sad heap and Izzy stared in frustration. Everything was either too casual or too "I'm trying hard".

She groaned and flopped onto the bed, accidentally stabbing herself in the back with the button of her denim shorts in the process.

"Ow." She moaned and grabbed it to toss away. It landed by her chest of drawers with a thump.

The plain white ceiling above her did little for the imagination so she turned onto her stomach and instead faced her desk, a large white Ikea build, that was home to several books, a computer, and a colourful pen pot. Most of her work was done there, and mostly late at night when the pressure had finally begun to hit.

Its matching rolling chair was slid back into the middle of the room next to her two storage cabinets and wardrobe. The now substantially less full wardrobe. A glass butterfly ornament hung on the door which was open next to her mirror, and in the reflection it looked as if it were suspended in mid air. Apt.

All around her bed, the walls were painted sky blue and the only decorations to be found were an old band poster and her running medals. Small marks and scuffs were left behind everywhere, evidence to the fact that they were once more full.

She kept her books underneath the bed and her Twilight collection was sticking out in front of her face as she lay on the bed – she felt like reaching out for one then stopped as she remembered her priorities.

"Ok google." Izzy paused until she saw it light up, "Play Queen."

"Playing Queen, from Spotify." It replied.

The google home on her desk glowed and then the soft, melodic opening to Bohemian Rapsody began to spill out.

It felt good.

Izzy began to hum it quietly as she pushed herself up to face the pile of doom which lay before her. She sifted through it quickly and stopped. Nothing was going to work there. With her hand, she pushed away the top layer to dig in the middle. A scarlet red pleated checked skirt caught Izzy's attention and she pulled it out.

It had small black lines running down it and little checked boxes in darker red.

The skirt gave her an idea and she rummaged in a very white looking part of the pile – she grabbed a small, long sleeved top and held it up next to the skirt. It wasn't perfect but to her untrained gaze it would do for one night. Now all she needed was a jacket or something to pair it with. There was no way she would wear her rain coat to a party.

On the back of the door she hung most of her outer layers on two hooks and she stood up to look through them. She was worried that she wouldn't find anything.

Finally, she came to a black fake leather jacket near the back.

Izzy muttered to herself, "You'll do." as she held it in her hands and then placed it carefully onto the bed with her other pieces of choice.

She caught herself in the mirror as she walked round to the centre of her room. Her loose hair was somewhat of a mess and around her face it frizzed out as if she'd been electrocuted. The deep brown waves reached the middle of her back and were held back from her face with two simple white clips that were currently beginning to slide out.

Taking one carefully between two fingers, she unclipped it and pulled it out; she winced as it pulled out some strands of hair along with it. Then she took out the other one in a similar fashion and placed them both on the small shelf beneath her mirror.

Her hairbrush lay there from the morning so she picked it up and began to pull it through her long hair - her amber eyes looked back at her in the mirror as she did so. They were her favourite feature – a near yellow colour that stood out next to her dark eyelashes and eyebrows. She considered adding eyeliner but ruled this out quickly as she remembered her last eyeliner themed endeavour.
