Midnight Callers

Ring. Ring. Ring.

Takaaki's hand searched for his phone on his nightstand table.

"Hello?" Takaaki asked groggily.

À loud wail emitted through the phone.

"Miyako?" he inquired. "What's wrong?"

"Momoko and Kaoru are in the hospital!" Miyako cried.

Takaaki's eyes snapped open. "Why, what happened?"

"Princess," Miyako snarled. "We had to fight her again, but we were so exhausted, she beat us up!"

"Why aren't you in the hospital?" Takaaki asked. Then he realized how rude he sounded and winced.

"She didn't see me as too much of a threat and hardly touched me," Miyako admitted. "I managed to beat her, though, but the damage was so terrible, Ken and the Professor had to rush them to the hospital."

"I'm on my way," Takaaki said. "Wait, actually, I'm gonna sleep for one more hour."

Takaaki could practically hear Miyako blush. "So sorry, Taki," she apologized. "I forgot how early it was."

"It's fine," Takaaki reassured her.

"I love you," he added.

"I love you, too,"
