PROLOGUE

"07 just because I caved in and allowed them to let you keep your heart doesn't mean you can take idiotic decisions like this."

"It won't happen again professor."

"Hand that thing over to an animal shelter or something. I don't want to see that thing around the lab."

The professor stormed out of the lab leaving 07. He took his hands away from the kitten's ears and lifted the thing up, smiling.

"He's just grumpy he didn't mean to be rude. Now let's go meet Miss Kim." He put the kitten carefully back into his backpack leaving a gap for it to breath as he walked towards the front desk to hand over the little friend to the elderly woman.

"Oh my. He's such a cutie... I'm sure we can fit him into your huge apartment. I'll take care of him when you're out at work so don't worry." Miss Kim carefully took the kitten into her arms and gave 07 a reassuring smile.

The professor watched 07 and Miss Kim smiling at each other while playing with the cat through the cctv camera of the lobby. He waved his hand ordering his assistant to come inside his office.

"There's nothing wrong with the boy right? Did the checkups and everything?" He asked without taking his eyes off of the screen.

"Yes Sir nothing out of the ordinary. Maybe wanting to take care of the cat is a good thing since we're still working on improving and stimulating his numbed mind status. I see it as progress professor." She calmly replied.

"You think so?"

"Yes Sir. All thanks to your intelligence that is."

The professor gave a nod of approval. "You may leave."

"Doctor Ahn what's the first thing we should do when we own a cat?" 07 sat down on a chair watching his new friend play with a tiny ball next to his feet. It's been a while since he had someone apart from the doctors from Netro Tech over at the apartment especially another non-human.

Doctor Ahn looked at the cat and looked back at the boy. "I've never raised pets so I don't know?"

"I did search it up though, the results indicate that a lot of people give their cat a name as the first thing they do and examples for cat names differ from breed. But regardless of that most people name their cats after objects-which I find weird-such as fluffy wearables like mittens, flowers and even the moon-"

"Woah woah slow down buddy you don't have to do everything according to your Netro search results. Just give him a name you think that fits him. Don't think too much." Doctor Ahn packed up his work equipment back into his bag.

"Final checkups of the day are done. You can rest a bit- oh wait you don't need rest I forgot cause you're so... human. Just make sure you do something fun? Maybe watch a movie or something."

"Okay. I'll watch a movie." He immediately agreed to Doctor Ahn's suggestion.

"Kid you don't have to do it just because I mentioned it. Isn't there anything you particularly enjoy?" Doctor Ahn asked as he dialed up the professor's number.

"Hmm... things I enjoy..." 07 thought for a while trying to think of something he liked doing.

"I don't think there's anything I like in particular but yeah watching a movie is a good idea." Doctor Ahn sighed.

"07 you still have both your heart and brain very much intact and functioning. You can think for yourself instead of always going along with the system..." The boy gave the doctor a sheepish grin before bending over to pet the orange cat. The cat was awfully friendly and impossible not to fall in love with for something that's been left in an alley to fend for itself.
