Chocolate Strawberries

I had just finished pouring the glass of champagne when I heard a knock on the door. I set down the bottle and quickly reviewed my work- it was perfect. Brushing the grass off of my skirt, I walked through the back door and closed it, skipped through the kitchen and to the front door. I opened the door and greeted my gorgeous boyfriend with a smile. "You're home!" I wrapped my arms around Spencer tightly, and he did the same, nesting his face in my neck.

"I'm so glad I am, I missed you so much."

"I missed you more." I released him and kissed him sweetly, running my fingers through his hair. "You look a little tired."

"Yeah, the unsub was fast. Remind me to go to gym more." We shared a laugh as he set down his bag and hung up his coat.

"Come on, goofball, I have a surprise for you." I grabbed his hand and practically dragged him to the closed back door. He looked at me with a confused smile. "Where are we going?" he asked.

"Close your eyes."

"Y/N-"

"Hush, close 'em!"

He put his free hand up in surrender and closed his eyes. I opened the back door and led him outside. I let go of his hand and walked onto the blanket. "Okay dove, open them."

He opened his eyes, and let out a sigh of appreciation. I'm front of him was a red and white chequered picnic blanket with numerous plates full of finger food- I had made sure to get Spencer's favourite treats and snacks, like donuts and rice crispy treats. Both a full and empty champagne glass sat in the middle, along with a woven basket full of chocolate covered strawberries.

He looked at me, small tears making his eyes sparkle in the sunlight. "Sweetheart, you did all this for me?"

I sat down and I tucked my hair behind my ear. "Well, yeah. You deserve some relaxation away from all the crime fighting you do. Now come sit down, before your rice crispys go soft!"

He giggled and took a seat next to me. "So, what happened in this weeks episode of Crime Fighters?"

"Nothing good, a woman's child was kidnapped." He took a sip and put his arm around me. "We eventually figured out that it was the father, and it took us two weeks to catch the guy. It turns out he suffers from Dissociative Identity Disorder, so he had no recollection of doing what he did. But, it was worth it in the end, reuniting the little girl with her mother."

"It's always worth it when you get to do that."

"Yeah, it is." He took another sip and picked up a strawberry from the basket. "There's a lot of these in here, how much did you spend on them?"

My cheeks flushed. "A little under fifteen dollars-"

"Fifteen dollars! Why so many?"

"I've been craving them soooo bad since you went to Jacksonville for that case, I thought I'd stock up!"

"Well, they do look good." He inspected the strawberry in his hand and took a bite. "Oh my god, they're really good-"

I laughed to myself as he indulged in the sweet treat, but my smile soon faded. "Listen, Spencer, there's something we need to talk about."

His expression turned more serious, and he rested his hand on mine. "Is something wrong?"

"No, not at all, it's just, uh..." I suppressed a tear and swallowed. "How do you feel about kids?"

Spencer was lost in thought for a moment. "I think they're amazing. It's fascinating, seeing them learning as they grow. And I love seeing their faces when I do my card tricks!" He laughed to himself.

I laughed with him, but stopped abruptly. "You're gonna be a great dad."

His smile disappeared, like a rabbit in a magician's hat, and his face turned to pure shock. "Huh?"

The tears I tried suppress began to trail down my cheeks as I looked into his eyes, picturing the memories we were going to make. "I'm pregnant."

Spencer remained speechless for a few seconds, and eventually filled the silence with celebratory laughs and smiles. He put his hand on my belly, feeling around gently. "We're having a baby?"

"Yes, I can't believe-"

"We're having a baby!" He stood up and pulled me up with him. He then picked me up and spun me around, his smile wide and toothy. When he set me down, he ran his fingers through my hair and kissed me like there was no tomorrow. We shared the kiss for a minute, and then breathlessly wrapped our arms around eachother. In that moment, I felt more love and happiness than ever before.

Spencer rested his chin on my shoulder. "I love you so much."

"I love you more."

He put his hands on my cheeks and pulled me in for another kiss. "Not possible."
