Ten years earlier

There was silence, just slience as people hung out of their windows to watch as the police speed past ,their sirens blaring in the midnight air. Usually there wasnt much commontion in the small town of Blysmouth, except for the random broken window, or a drunken fight, but this was different, much different. The sirens continued to scream in the night as fire trucks and ambulances speed past. A man was running down the street shouting, telling his nieghbors about the news. There was a body found in Willow Creek River .
Mary Huffman looked at her five year old daughter sound asleep on the couch and sighed, happy and amazed that she didnt hear all of the commontion outside. She was a child with a vivd imagination and would have carried on about the sirens for weeks.
Finally, unable to take the noise any longer, Mary shut the window and made her self a cup of tea and waited for her husband to get home. He was a police chief and she knew that with everything going on he was going to have a long night.
At 3 am , Bailey walked through the door, his face looked tired and haggered. He took off his jacket and hung it up like it was made of lead.
Unable to contain herself any longer Mary cleared her throat
" Whos body was it Bails?"
Baily looked at her pain was on his face, he sighed , "A little girl .Looked like she was no more than five"
Mary gasped "Did she drown?!"
Baily shook his head. " By the looks of it there seemed to be foul play involved...but thats not all"
"You mean theres more! Her poor parents, i cant even imagine.."Mary's voice trailed off.
"There were others, other bodies that is all the same age, they were all the same just..."
Unable to speak any more Bailey sat down on the couch ,making one end rise up from the pressure. After about two min he finally spoke . " We are taping off the river no one is allowed there anymore ,at least untill we get this straightened out. I dont want you taking Lacey swimming there anymore do you understand?!"
Mary nodded slowly, as silence filled the dimming light in their room and amplified the darkness outside.

CHAPTER ONE
Lacey grabbed her bag out of her locker and speed down the hallway, almost colliding with Anna Thompson, the head cheerleader of the school.
"Hey weirdo watch where your going! "

" Sorry Anna im just in a rush I didnt.."

" You WILL be sorry if you ever run in to me like that again"
With that Anna, flipped her hair and turned to her goon beside her. Lacey could hear her still talking as she walked away.
" and who does she think she is..."
Lacey waited untill they rounded the corner and started speeding down the steps again. She wasnt going to let Anna dampen her mood ,because in her bookbag was a permission slip to join Calvert Washingston High's swim team. She had tried out for the team two weeks ago ,and she nearly passed out from excitment when she discovered her name on the list outside the swim coach office. Now all she needed was to get her parents to sign the permission slip and she could get her jacket.
She stood on the pavement waiting for her uncle Phil to come pick her up. Her parents car had completely gone out on them about a month ago,and they couldnt afford the repairs.
"Ok " Lacey thought to herself "Dont mention how much its going to cost to buy your gear, just get them to sign the slip and then we can work from there .
Laceys parents were hard pressed for money these days with her grandmother needing home care day in and day out. It was raking her parents dry.
"Just wait untill i win my olympic medal in swimming " lacey thought " i will be able to pay them back ten times over"
She smiled at the thought ,and just then her Uncle pulled up

"Her there Lacey girl what I tell you about talking to those imaginary friends of yours. People are gonna think your wacko!"

" Im nott talking to my self, guess who just found out they are a part of CWH's swim team?!"

"Congrats Lacey girl this is cause for celebration! When is your first meet?

"Well i dontt know that untill i can get mom and dad to sign my comtract"
