I looked at him
as a friend
until I realised,
I loved him.Mishti's POV:
"Oh my god, Ritwik! Stop the car. Stop. Stop. St-" He placed his hand on my lips, shutting me up and gestured me to look around, with his eyes. I smiled sheepishly as I saw he had already stopped the car.
"Icecream.", I demanded.Shaking his head, he went out to get ice-cream for us. I sulked, not liking the fact that I can't get out of the car because of my saree, without his help.
Waiting for him, my mind wandered back to the little fiasco I created about a month ago.
(Flashback)
Getting out of the elevator, I hastily opened the door of his highness' office.
Aishwarya, his P.A., jumped in fright from the sudden moment, but he sat unfazed, passing me a glance nonchalantly.Walking towards him in anger, I stretched my hand to pull his collar, but he gripped my hands with his one hand and snaked an arm around me, pulling me in his lap.
"The heck I'm hearing from daadi, Ritwik. Why did you say yes to the proposal?", I whined like a child.
"We've been best friends even before we knew the meaning of this term, Mishti. We're already so comfortable with each other, besides we have to get married one day so I thought why not marry someone I've known since my entire life. Do you see yourself getting married to someone else? Because, I don't. And, you can say no to this. Nobody would say anything to you. That, I promise. And, I only said yes because you're the only girl who I can spend my entire life tolerating.", He said, looking into my eyes.
"It wouldn't get awkward between us na..", I spoke.
"It won't..we won't let anything come between us. Did you forget your words, 'Ritwik annd Mishti together, against the whole dumb-world.' Don't overthink, Mishti." He caressed my back, comforting me with his words."You've become a genius, living with me. Keep copying me.", I cooed, pulling his cheeks and pretending to raise my imaginary collar.
He only rolled his eyes in response, trying to hide his smile, knowing I was like this in front of him only.(Flashback ends.)
He drove the car while I ate the icecream, feeding him simultaneously. This arrogant guy was the only one who I would share my icecream with.
We reached out spot and I looked out of the window, smiling excitedly.
"We shouldn't go outside. It's raini-", Ignoring his rubbish, I was already opening my side of the door and rushing outside but that brute held my hand and pointed towards my saree as if mocking me. His smirk only adding to my annoyance.
He got out and helped me get out of the car, holding my hand with his.
I jumped a little in the puddle, twirling around, enjoying the feel of little droplets of water falling on me.
Ritwik's POV:
She was probably the only girl who wanted to go on a long-drive on her wedding night. And, what kind of a husband would I be, if I had denied her wish?! So here we were.
Her breathtaking smile was worth everything. I adored her with my eyes as she closed her eyes, spreading her hands and enjoying the rain like a kid, promising myself to not the kid inside her, which only I've the privilege to see, die.
"Let's dance..", She said.
"There's no music.", I stated proudly, crossing my hands around my chest.
"Isn't the sound of little droplets of rain hitting the ground enough of a music for you..and even if you still want music then sing.", She sassed.Walking towards her, I snaked my arm around her waist and intertwining the other one with hers.
Na hai yeh pana,
Na khona hi hai,
Tera na hona jaane,
Kyun hona hi hai.She smiled as hummed her favourite song. If not hers, then what would I be. Marrying her was the best decision, I could ever take.
Tumse hi din hota hai,
Surmayi shaam aati hai,
Tumse hi, tumse hi.
My day began with waking her up and ended with fighting with her on food, thinking about her till my eyes closed and my body surrendered itself to sleep.Har ghari saans aati hai,
Zindagi keh laati hai,
Tumse hi, tumse hi.Twirling her, I brought her closer to myself. She kept her head on my chest and mumbled, "What would I have done without you, Rii?!"
I missed that name..the name only she called me with.Aankhon mein aankhe teri,
Baahon mein baahein teri,
Mera na mujhmein kuch raha, hua kya,
Baaton mein baatein teri,
Raatein saugatein teri,
Kyun tera sab yeh ho gaya,
Hua kya.Gazing in her eyes, and to be able to hold her in my arms, felt surreal. I didn't even realise when she became so important to me. Her talks, her rants, made my day. We both didn't like talking much but when we saw each other, we couldn't stop bickering.
I didn't even realise when she got hold over my heart, my mind and my soul.Main kahin bhi jaata hoon,
Tumse hi mil jata hoon,
Tumse hi, Tumse hi.She looked up at me, and stood on her toes, ignoring the amused look in my arms. I immediately lowered my head, to make her work easier and probably because I waited for this the entire day.
Cupping my face, she placed her lips on my forehead, this time not only me but making my heart smile too."You know what they say..", She asked and I shook my head at her.
"Lucky are those who find a best friend in their partners, look at me, I think I'm the luckiest because I got my life partner in my best friend.", She said, her eyes shining in wonder."You're my best friend and probably soon-to-be the love of my life.", She winked in the end, trying to hide her teary eyes from me.
She gave me a stink eye the moment as she noticed my arrogant smirk.
"Please, if not for me, koi ladki tujhe ghaas bhi nhi daalti.", I gaped at her words and smacked her forehead, calling her a 'lallu'.And obviously she wouldn't be Mishti, if she backed down this easily. So, from there our bickering started on 'who was the best'.
