May 2nd, 1990
Mariah's Pov
I was at the studio recording for my new album. Me and my background singers Trey and Billy D were coming out of the studio laughing and singing.
"Baby it's all in your miiiiiiiiine" I sung coming out the door.
"Miiiinee" Trey sung very low and we all bursted out laughing.
"Alright guys, same time tomorrow?" Billy asked.
"Yeah" I said and we all went our separate ways.
I decided to go get a bite to eat before I headed home "Taxi!" I yelled stopping the driver.
They stopped and I got in "Take me to Sanatalino's please" I said.
When I arrived, I paid the driver and got out of the car and went inside. It was really late so there was only like five people there.
"Hi welcome to Santalino's take a seat anywhere and the waiter will be over at your table shortly" The guy said and I nodded and went to find a table.
As I waited for the waitress I turned my attention to the women singing on stage. No one was really paying attention to her.

"Wow" I said to myself.
At long last love has arrived

Then the woman looked over at me and we locked eyes. I smiled and so did she then continued singing.
"Mam have you decided on what you're having tonight?" The waiter said getting my attention.
"Uh yes I would like the pasta" I said.
"Anything to drink?" The said.
"Yes, a glass of water" I said.
"Okay mam your order will be brought over to you shortly" They said and I nodded.
A couple of minutes past and they brought me my food and I dug in. When I had finished, they were getting ready to close but I wanted to stay so I could meet the singer.
"Um excuse me" " I said getting one of the waitresses attention.
"Yes?" They said.
"Do you have any idea where the woman went that was singing on stage?" I said.
"Uh yes back there" They said pointing backstage.
"Okay thank you" I said and rushed backstage. I looked inside every room but no luck. Then I went out back and there She was.
"Hey!" I yelled and ran over to her.
"May I help you?" She said.
"Oh, I just wanted to tell you how amazing you were tonight" I said.
"Thanks, I saw you out there" She said.
I smiled then something hit me "Wait, Lauryn?".
Authors pov
Lauryn was Mariah's high school sweetheart. They dated up until the 12th grade. They were so much in love. They'd get crowned king and queen every year. But then they had to break up because Lauryn was a drug dealer and she didn't want to mess up Mariah's dream so she moved away.
Mariah's pov
"Mariah?" She said and we ran into each others arms.
Tears started to form in my eyes as we embraced. I never really knew why she broke up with me and why she never called to tell me either, she just up and left. I began to whimper and her grip loosened and we pulled away "Are you crying?" She asked.
I looked at her "Why did you leave me?" I asked.
She was about to answer but I cut her off.
"I never knew what love was until I met you, you were my whole world and you just up and left me like I was nothing" I said as the tears streamed down my cheeks.
"Mari-" She started but I pushed her.
"I hate you" I said looking her dead in her eyes then ran away from her.
"Mariah wait!" She yelled but I was gone.
Authors pov
Lauryn ran her fingers through her hair looking down at the ground. She never thought she'd ever see Mariah again and that when she saw her she'd say I hate you.
