As the sun lowered in the horizon, you started to close your notebook and turn down your speaker and look at the time in your computer
8:30pm
As soon as you look away you hear the front door open and close quickly after, you get up from your desk and head out your door to find your dad looking through the mail as he always does. You wave your hand slightly and he nods in response, both of you are creatures of habit and usually follow the same routine.
You go to work/school. Meet at the main house. You go home first. Dad arrives home 8:30pm.It was so exact that whenever you went out he would call for chrono to find you (where he then would drag you back home).
You look at him and find him staring at one card specifically, his shoulders tended and then he handed the card towards you. You looked at it, it only had a symbol, a circle, around it were two wavy lines that intertwined and then met at the center at the top of it, underneath it was your name bold letters. You slowly open it and read the words out loud.
'Greetings Ms. Chisaki
As an organization that strives for the best, we have come to the realization that you meet the criteria for our program, we request that you come to the Tokyo headquarters at 5pm on Thursday. We expect you to be there if you are interested in this offer.
Sincerely, The Hero Public Safety Commission'
'What would they want?' You and your father both question it, you look at him, your eyes shined, were you hopeful? For what?
You both sat down at the table with your dinner and the letter at the middle of the table, you didn't speak, but he already knows what you want to do. "You can go." He only says that and takes another mouthful of the Chicken Alfredo you both ordered. You stare at him. "Why would you let me?" You were confused, he hated the system, the way that only people with shiny quirks could shine, the way that is filled with "filth" that he wanted to burn.
You both stare at each other, his eyes where blank, posture relaxed yet tense, a clear light within the mist that you couldn't walk through. "You are the daughter of a villain" he spoke, almost proudly. "The world will not trust you if they find out, the hero commission is trying to make you go on "their" side and get you to be a role model so you don't become "corrupted" as they phrase" he paused, looking at your face, noticing the slight disappointment in your eyes. "They do accept you are strong, but they focused on the wrong reasons", he picked up his fork from his plate again and took another bite.
You were kind of hurt, but at the same time you expected it, the commission always focused on people with great quirks, landing them into high ranking schools, in turn they had to become heroes and work under them or underneath a hero for some time before going on their own. The information was public but a lot of people don't know about it since unlike with everything else, the commission doesn't parade it around they call it the "recommendations program."
You knew the world will reject you from being a hero just because of your dad, you would even be lucky to land in a high level high school, you knew that when you will try out for UA, they will immediately reject you, even if they allow you to actually take the tests, they will turn you away.
You needed a backup, a plan so you would be able to at least become a small hero so you could save others. Dad was now staring at you, waiting for your response, you took a deep breath and just nodded and took a bite out of your food, it tasted sour.
Thursday
Your hands were sweating as you sat on the lobby, you and Kai had to go through the x-ray machine and a body search (where your dad scared off the security guy so they had to get an old woman who was security to search you) and now we're waiting to get in the office, you weren't dressed up, you only had your purple hoodie with black jeans as people around you looked at the both of you.
Kai was sitting next to you, he insisted of coming even though he wouldn't be in the room, his eyes were cold and his posture was confident, one of his legs over the other as he crossed his arms over his chest, you opted to put your hands in your pockets and stare at the ceiling. You heard footsteps approaching and the door in front of you open as a lady with black hair spoke "miss. Y/N please do come in" her voice was polite, no ounce of annoyance in it, it's almost like she was trained to do that.
The room was clean, not a spec of dust in it, one of the walls was a window that let you look out to the city, there was a table, it was a circular strip, there were 5 people seated, all of them had their faces shadowed by the sun outside the window.
As soon as the door closed a curtain covered the window, a blanket of darkness covered the room for a second and then lights lit up the room in seconds. You tried to not flinch, but you had to squint your eyes a little. 'This is so extra' your mind was blank, body stiff as you tried to not show any fear, "fear is a weapon, you need to learn how to use it" was the first thing your father told you when you started to train your quirk.
At the head of the table sat a woman with short blonde hair, her back was straight as she examined you, at her right was a man, probably her secretary due to him having more papers than the rest. The other people in the room wore costumes. Heroes? Why were they needed? One of the men was in a suit, hair pulled back but his face indicated that he may not have gotten any sleep in at least 28 hours, the man to his left was a creature, maybe his quirk turned him into an animal? He looked like a white small bear. The last man looked equally exhausted as the man with the half bun, he had a side mutation that made his mouth look weird, his hair was fluffy too.
All of them examined you and then the woman at the center began to talk. "Miss. Chisaki I appreciate that you took consideration on the program, we will just be asking you some questions to see if you're fit." The man with the bun seemed to tense, probably annoyed of the show the woman has to put. 'We could have done this in an email' you seemed to be more annoyed but still straightened your back and looked at her as if you were just talking with a friend.
The animal man hummed a little and the secretary seemed to start to take notes on one of the papers. Most of the questions were normal like "what do you prefer as food" or stuff like that. But then they started to get a little more personal. You were annoyed at most of them but still answered them enough to move on to the next. The last question was something you expected.
"What do you think makes someone a hero?" The woman finished talking and leaned back on her seat again, you felt them pay more attention to this than to the other questions for some reason, yet you still obliged. "Hero is an idea that came from the selfless act of people in an era without quirks, the idea of doing things without selfishness or just to make the world a better place, one of the best examples in today's era would be the people who are helping others with "villainous" quirks be accepted into society. A hero is an idea, not something that you 100% are." You finished, the man with the bun seemed to gain interest
The animal man finally spoke. "What do you want to be then?" His voice seemed cheery, a little too much. You just looked at him straight in the eye, "A messenger" your response was quick, and it seemed to satisfy him. You were dismissed and went back to the lobby where your dad seemed to be disgusted at everything. As soon as he saw you he got up and made you both immediately go exit the building, you barely missed seeing other people your age, you swore that you saw blue and gray eyes see you but your didn't know from who.
