'fins' sope

New Waters

Next time I woke up I was in a strange place. I was still in water but it was different. The ocean was more shallow, and there was weird blue squares on the side of it. There was a white floor too that was really shiny because of the sun. The water was also funny feeling and it stung each time I opened my eyes. And my fin had a cut in it which made it difficult to swim around.

When I would surface there would be this big box infront of me. And once and awhile I would see a human walk past.

The human would often come out and talk to me or atleast try. Anytime it came out. I would dive and head for the furthest part of the contained ocean. It's been leaving strange human food out for me. Once an awhile it'll bring out seeweed or a lobster, which gets me really hungry but I plan not to touch it, I don't know what it could've  put in there.

Today was like any other day. I've been in here for atleast 5 moons and no way to get out. The human came out again I went and hid. My blue hair and fins would match the shiny squares so it was hard to see me.

"Hey come out please, I just want to help you," the human said. He sighed then went back inside the big box. I surface again only to go back under. The human was back but this time he was only wearing fabric around his bottom half.

"Listen I want to help you, and since you won't talk to me up here I'll go down there," and with that a big splash cut through the water.

The human was in the water. He floated there for a second before he went up for air. I laugh at him, imagine needing air to survive. I can breath in both.

He then went back under looking around trying to catch a glimpse of what I would assume, me.

I think to myself wether I should go up to him or not. He's helpless in the water. Little by little I grow my confidence. I swim closer and closer to him his eyes grow wide once they meet mine. He goes back for another gasp of air and I follow him. Up on the surface we make eye contact. His eye are brown and his lips are like a heart contrasting with my blue eyes and thin lips.

"Wow, you actually came," the human said

I stare at him intensely, looking for any signs of wanting to kill me, eat me or worse selling me. But his eyes seem innocent and trust worthy

"Hey listen I know you would want to hear how you got here, but it's hard to talk and keep afloat at the same time," the human trails off. "Is it okay if I go to the stairs right over there still in the water to talk to you?"

I look over to where he was pointing. To the left were stairs that lewd into the small ocean. I look back at him and slowly nod my head. The human smiles and then starts to swim towards the stairs. For a human he is a very strong swimmer.

Once he reaches the stairs he sits down on the top step where his feet are just barely covered by the water. I slowly make my way over too but to make sure to keep my distance.

"So to start off my name is hoseok but my friends call me hobi, how about you?"

I look at him intensely again, I dared not to speak while being close to him.

"Okay, then, not much of a talker I see, well I'll just get to the point," the so called hoseok said. "I was taking a walk near the shore early in the morning when I saw you, you were unconscious and bleeding on the head, so I took you back here and patched you back up, and I'm surprised you don't remember or maybe you do but, you were actually in my bathtub first before you started freaking out cause you were in such a confined space, so I moved you to my pool, any questions?"

I look at him he seems to be a nice human being. He looks as if he actually cares about me.

"Who are you selling me too?" I ask him coldly.

He looked taken back, "sell you!? Why would I do that?"

"Cause that's what all you humans do, you find us, sell us, then we're used for you're entertainment."

"Listen ummm, blue hair, I didn't even know you were a mermaid till I put you in my bathtub so, I definitely don't want to sell you or anything."

I look at him again this time annoyed he just called me blue hair.

"Why are you looking at me like that, listen if I were to sell you I would've done it while you were still asleep."

He has a point. He really looks like someone who wants to help me.

"Fine if you want to help me then let me back into the big ocean and not keep me in this tiny ocean," I demand of him.

"I can't do that right now." He says quickly.

"And why not!?"

"Your head it's still healing not to mention look at your fins, I might not know alot about mermaids and shit but I do know that swimming around like that hurts."

Damnit he has another point.

"Fine, but you do anything to me and I while have the whole ocean after you do you hear me."

"Yes sir."

"Good."

We stayed there in silence for a little bit not knowing what else to do.

"So umm, do you need anything blue hair?" He asked. Ugh there's that nickname again.

"A lobster would be nice, A live one please, and also stop calling me blue hair."

"Sure thing right away."

He gets out of the contained ocean and starts walking back into the large box. Humans are such weird and fascinating creatures they need oxygen to survive, and have to live in these big long boxes. Why can't thet just live in the outdoors with all the wonderful creatures?"

Not a moment later the human named hoseok comes back.

"Here's you live lobster, not sure you want it alive though."

He throws the creature into the waters and I imidiently dive for it. I rip the lobster apart before I start chewing in the meaty parts of it.

"Oh wow that's gross."

I give him a dirty look and he puts his hands up "look I'm sorry, I guess I'm just used to eating things dead."

I continue to eat the lobster till there wasn't anything left but shell and bone. I leave the bone and shell near the edge of the contained ocean for hoseok to pick up.

"Wow, that is the first and last time I will ever see a mermaid eat, so need anything else blue hair."

I give him a nasty look again before replying "yeah, stop calling blue hair."

"Well I don't really know what else to call you, you won't tell me your name."

I sigh "if I tell you my name are you going to stop calling me blue hair."

"Yeah."

"Okay my name is Yoongi."

"Nice to meet you Yoongi.".
