Present Day

The only sound that was heard was raindrops on glass.

A sound that always fascinated Jungkook. He listened to the muffled drops slammed aggressively on the barrier protecting him from the element. He found it amazing how such a thing as glass could hold back the full force of nature. He felt gentle fingers swipe his raven hair from his eyes which he turned to face the beholder.

"You're drifting off again." He muttered, offering a half smile, which was nothing compared to the usual one that radiated energy and positivity. Today it was different, his eyes weren't supporting the smile, and it didn't leave the usual creases in his skin.

"I'm tired hyung." Jungkook replied, returning the solemn smile.

"I know." The other man sighed and leaned back in his seat.

A sudden series of noises erupted from behind a closed door in front of them. Jungkook let his head fall, his eyes meeting his hands on his lap. A sudden sharp pang of guilt spread in his stomach, causing him to wince at the discomfort. His older friends eyes were fixed on the door, his face scrunched in an unreadable expression.

"Hyung... I'm sorry." Jungkook rasped out, his voice strained by the sob he was trying to suppress.

His friend turned to face him. His eyebrows furrowed in a frown, his face gone hard.

"I know."

The raven haired boy turned away from the older man, his eyes squinted, face distorted into an expression unique to distress, and let his burning tears fall as he continued to hear the rain pounding on the glass.

3 Months Earlier

"Hey."

Jungkook set down his phone and lifted his head to face the voice.

"Yes hyung?" He replied, his voice dripping with mock respect to his older friend.

The man set before him folded his arms over his petite chest and huffed an exasperated sigh, puffing out his already full cheeks. The edges of Jungkooks mouth twitched up in a smirk at the sight as he observed his friends child like expression.

He swung his long legs in front of him and leaped up from where he was sitting to join the other man. The pair walked back to where three other men stood. One's big, brown, puppy like eyes met Jungkooks and gestured for him to come to where he was.

"Surprise," the brown eyed man said, "we're making you go on coffee run!" His mouth spread into a rectangular shape as Jungkook slapped his arm.

"Jimin," he turned to whine at the petite blonde who he came with, "you made me get up!"

Jimin shrugged in response and brought out his own phone.

"There's a place near here, and we'll pay you back I guess." He replied, not looking at the maknae.

Jungkook turned to the man with the rectangular smile.

"You'll come with me right Taehyung?"

"Sure" the taller said flashing another smile.

"Thanks for coming!"

A woman smiled at her customers as they left, her eyes practically disappearing into thin lines, leaving crinkles on the edges. The smile complimented her high, angled cheekbones, littered with freckles which seemed that they were spattered on with a paintbrush. Silky black hair fell over her shoulders, framing her diamond face, in which she pushed behind her ears. Sunlight fell through the window causing her dark skin to glow in the afternoon light, her eyes sparkling as she resumed taking care of her little coffee shop.

She glided to an empty table and started clearing it. Grabbing used cups and cutlery with her slender fingers, then moving swiftly through the maze of tables to the small kitchen at the back. She adjusted the apron hugging her thin figure, and then the name badge that read : "Kathrine".

"Hey Kat!" Her dark-haired co-worker half shouted, "Can you take these customers quick?" He looked at her with pleading eyes as he struggled to hold up the pile of plates he held.

"Sure Chul!" She patted her co-workers shoulder and offered him a reassuring smile as she walked passed him.

She was met by two men in black masks, both with black hair and in gym clothes, she offered them her signature waitress smile, boasting her perfect set of white teeth.

"How can I help you two gentlemen today?"

"Can we have seven-"

"Noona?"

She glanced at the one with the shorter hair and frowned.

"Sorry?"

"It's me!" He pulled down his mask to reveal his face, "Jungkook!" He whispered.

Katherine blinked twice.

"Jungkook?"

"Yeah!" He let out a little squeal and pulled her into a tight hug, the other man seeming desperately lost.

"It's been so long!" She exclaimed, soft enough as to not bring attention to the two men.

"I know! What are the chances we meet here?" He laughed and turned to his friend.

"Taehyung this is Katherine, Katherine, this is-"

"Oh I know who he is." Katherine chuckled as she bowed to the other man respectfully, not hiding the large smile on her face in the presence of the star.

"Well I don't know who you are so hello Katherine." He replied fondly, his baritone voice breaking into a small laugh.

Jungkooks face was glowing, the edges of his mouth turned up into a big smile, and his eyes were on Katherine affectionately. It was if he was replaying every memory he had of her in his head.

"Jungkook and I went to school together," she explained to Taehyung, "he helped me with my Korean."

"She was one of my best friends." Jungkook added softly, his expression full of memory and adoration.

Katherine glanced at Jungkook with a small smile and turned back to Taehyung.

"Sorry I didn't get your order!" She laughed.

Taehyung leaned his head back in a soft laugh.

"Yeah before I was interrupted by this one." He playfully ruffled the younger one's hair. "We have seven orders: two large cappuccinos, one small hot coco...".

A sizeable order was placed, so Katherine ran back to the kitchen. She placed a hand in her chest, and a huge grin plastered across her face. This act gained a few strange looks from her co-workers.

She exhaled, smoothed out the creases of her uniform and got to work. The order was brought to the two masked men who were seated at a table that had a view of the busy sidewalks and streets of Seoul.

"Noona?" Jungkook asked as him and his friend rose to leave.

"Yeah?"

"It's was... really great to see you... like really great...um..."

"He's asking for your number" Taehyung interjected.

Jungkook's cheeks flushed so red, Katherine could see even though he had a mask on. She let out a low chuckle.

"And he may have it." She said cheekily back to Taehyung, who was snickering at his bright red friend.

Jungkook handed her his phone, and her slender fingers brushed his by chance. His big, doe eyes darted up to meet her almond ones, seemingly refusing to break the gaze.

Taehyung coughed.

Katherine smiled awkwardly and swiftly typed her number into Jungkooks phone. However, he wasn't looking at her anymore.

He was looking at the ring in her finger.
