It was a rainy day which was quite unusual for it was summer. Rain rarely appears in the summer. It would usually only rain two or three days, but it had been raining for a week. It was perfect. Why you ask? Because a certain girl named Beatrix Moore loves the rain. She didn't need to go out for anything. She would stay in the comfort of her room and play video games. Beatrix is a very introverted person. All she planned for summer was to slack off and sleep. The rain helped her with that. No need to go out for groceries, get togethers, nothing! That was a great summer for Beatrix. But today was different. The rain died down a bit on Saturday, which is today, and that is why it wasn't as cold today as the past days. It didn't bother Beatrix though. She was in her dark room, wrapped in her blanket like a burrito, and playing the newest Mortal Kombat game on her laptop. Everything was perfect. That is, until she heard a knock on her door. She didn't want to mess her funky flow in her video game, but she didn't want to be rude. Beatrix paused her game and walked to the door. When she opened the door, she saw her older brother, David, dressed in casual clothing. David spoke. "Come on Trix. Get dressed. We're picking up mom from her 'Mom's Night Out'." Beatrix couldn't help but giggle. He came up with that special name for Saturday years ago when their mom started taking advice from the other moms in their neighborhood. They were all the same age as her so they got along quite well. It has been a tradition for the other moms to have a get together every Saturday so Beatrix's mom had to tag along too. Not that her mom disliked it. She loved the idea to have a night for herself. "Hey Dave, can I not go? I'm in the middle of my game. I don't want to mess my flow. Please?" Said Beatrix. She made a cute puppy face to show she wanted to stay home. Beatrix tried to do the cutest face possible. She wanted to play so badly. David stood still at the entrance of Beatrix's room making a serious face. After a minute of silence David spoke. " Fine. But you have to do my chores for the rest of the week." His stern look disappeared and now he had a grin on his face. Beatrix gave her big brother an annoyed look. Just because he was a year older than her doesn't mean he could make her do everything he said! Then suddenly she had an idea. It was the perfect idea! Beatrix smirked. "Let's have a little contest. If I win, you leave me to my video games for the rest of the summer. If you win, I'll do your chores for the rest of the summer. Deal?" David's grin disappeared. His little sister challenging him? He thought about this contest. If he won, he would be free from labor. He would be laying down on the couch, a cup of Mountain Dew on the table next to him, and Doritos on top of him. He would be relaxing while Beatrix would be washing the dishes, he thought to himself. He would definitely win this contest! " Okay, deal." Said David. The two of them were now smirking at each other. Both thinking they would beat the other. "Come inside." Said Beatrix. She walked to her bed and sat down. Before David followed his sister he looked at her room. It was quite dark. The only source of light was his sister's bright laptop screen. As he sat down on his sister's bed he noticed that there were a pile of books at the left corner of her room. " New books?" David asked.
"No. I'm rereading them."
After a few moments of silence David asked what would they exactly do in their contest. "Flappybird. You know, the one we are pretty bad at. Since we both suck at this game, this contest will be fair." Said Beatrix. Once she powered down her computer, she put it under her bed then she went to her writing desk and got her phone. She unplugged it from it's charger then sat down at her bed. David couldn't help but feel angry. He thought he would beat her! He knew very well that the last time he played his score was one and his sister's score was three. "Here," Beatrix said. She handed her phone to her brother. "You play first. I know you suck at this so I'll give you a head start." David looked at the bird on the phone, taunting him with it's ugly beak that looked more like Jinx's lips from Pokemon. He then look at the scoreboard. There was a freaking five. How in the world was he supposed to beat that? David cursed loud enough for Beatrix to hear. "No swearing. I'll tell mom. You know she hates swearing." David saw Beatrix writing something on a piece of paper on her desk. After she finished writing whatever she was writing, she showed the paper to her brother. "To keep track on scores." Said Beatrix. The paper was folded into two. One side had the numbers one, two , and three, and so did the other side. On the left side of the paper there was a b, and on the right side was a d. "There will be three rounds. Whoever has the highest score, wins, and also I wrote with a pen so we won't cheat."
"Okay." David said. They started the contest. David got a seven (surprisingly) and Beatrix got a five. "Told ya you don't suck that much!"
"Beginners luck, I guess", muttered David.

They both had the same scores. David had a seven on the first round, and a eight (which surprised him), while Beatrix had a five and ten. Add David's score, it was fifteen. Add Beatrix's score, it was fifteen too. Now it was the last match, the final round, the end of playing this crap called a game. Beatrix gave David a smirk. "Not bad. I thought this contest would take five minutes, but I guess it'll take ten."
"I got some practice from button mashing with my friends." Said David. His remark was supposed to sound intimidating but he couldn't help but let out the nervousness in his tone. Beatrix smirked again. "Bye, bye interruptions, hello gaming paradise!"
"You haven't won yet! I could beat you."
"Of course you could." Said Beatrix sarcastically. It was Davids turn. His hands were sweating. As he played the game, he was getting better at it. He passed one, and his score was now two, three, four, five, but then he fell. His score was five, but when added with his other scores, it was twenty. Beatrix wrote the number five under David's eight. David still had hope. His sister gave him a grin. A creepy grin. He did not know if that grin was supposed to be intimidating, or just to scare the crap out of him. He saw his sister playing. Beatrix's score was now one, two, three, four, five, then it happend. Beatrix's phone rang. It stopped the game. Beatrix cursed. "Hey, no swearing." David couldn't help but smile. Did he win? Did he get to slack all summer? Beatrix answered the phone. "Yes, I understand. I'll tell David now. Okay, bye." After that, Beatrix hung up. "It was mom. She said she doesn't need to be picked up anymore. Dad just finished work and he's bringing her home."
"Okay, but can we see your score?" David said. His heart was beating from excitement. He wanted to know so bad. "Fine," she went back to the game. "It's a tie."
"What!"
"I said it's a tie."
"I heard what you said but why?! I was so close to relaxation. WHY DOES THIS HAPPEN TO ME?!"
"Maybe the universe just doesn't like you." Said Beatrix. She giggled a bit then threw the piece of paper into the trashcan. "It's okay bug bro. You and I both know that we wouldn't have kept that promise anyways. I really just made this contest so you wouldn't bother me today."
"I love you." Said David.
"Love ya too." Said Beatrix.
"Wanna play Mortal Kombat?" Said David.
"Yeah." Said Beatrix.
