True crime is something that has gripped audiences for years. Some of the most popular television programs revolve around the idea of being able to help. Shows like Unsolved Mysteries and America's Most Wanted encourage viewers to submit tips to a tip line if they know anything about cases. Movies are put out that focus on serial killers or murders. These movies include My Friend Dahmer and The Zodiac. Constantly new documentaries are shedding light on these old and new cases. On Netflix, viewers can witness the confession tapes of well-known serial killer Ted Bundy. Even shows that feature fictional crime are always in the spotlight. Shows like NCIS or Criminal Minds run for years on end producing spin-offs. These cases are often interesting because we as humans can't look away from disaster.
