X: FAREWELL

The teens and the cat found themselves dipping into an alleyway in an attempt to escape the resurrected Billy. Max kicked a trash can, leaning against a wall as he caught his breath.

"Max," Lilah said, "Calm down. It's okay, we're gonna-"

"Look, I want you to take Dani back to you hiuse and don't let her out if your sight!" Max said.

"Max, we can't just leave you," Dani said.

"Yeah. We all started this and we're all gonna out an end to it."

"I said I'd protect you both."

"And you can do that without sending us away. I don't want you alone, Max."

"Uh oh..." Binx said. The three turned to see the witches, quickly ducking down.

"I smell..." Mary said, "Winnie I smell. I smell scrod. Scrod. It's a bottom dweller. You cook it sometimes with lovely bread crumbs a little bit of margarine or olive oil is good."

Winnie grabbed a hold of Mary's face and dragged her away as she began to stammer. She called out to Sarah, who was quick to run and catch up to them.

"God, they're dumb. Remind me why were scared of them again?" Lilah said as everyone dragged themselves out of their hiding places.

"Maybe because they have spells, and potions, and are literally trying to kill us," Dani said sarcastically.

"Right. Well, I have an idea."

Max stepped closer to Lilah. "Go on."

"Welcome to High School Hell! I'm your host, Boris Karloff Junior," Max laughed into the mic as the three witches ran through the hallways, trying to figure out where the voice, which they stupidly didn't recognise as Max's, was coming from.

"It's time to meet our three contestants: Sarah, Mary and Winifred Sanderson. Read any good spellbooks lately?"

Binx jumped out in front of the witches, and they strode after him, leaving them stood outside of a library. The motion sensors went off, and a voice sounded. It repeated the same phrases multiples times, in both English and French. "Hello, welcome to the library.", "I would like a book.", "What kind of book are you looking for?"

The witches ran into a small room in the library. They were under the impression they'd caught the children, when all they'd caught was a radio.

Lilah and Dani closed the heavy door on them, using all of the strength they could muster. Max then came running in, Binx jumping on his back. Lilah pushed a button on the wall, lighting the room on fire and watching as the witches were set alight.

The witches screams were ignored by the four, who ran out of the school and back onto the street. "Farewell, Winifred Sanderson!" Max yelled. The three kids jumped joyfully into the air, glad that the mess they'd created was finally over.

They ran down the streets, Lilah and Dani still screaming with joy as Max leaned against a fenc and Binx climbed onto a tree branch, looking down at him. "We did it, Binx. We stopped them."

"I've wanted to do that for three hundred years, since they took Emily."

"You really miss her, don't you? Man, you can't keep blaming yourself for that. That happened so long ago."

"Take good care of Dani, Max. You'll never know how precious she is until you lose her. Lilah, too. She really likes you."

"You think so?"

"I know so."

With that, Binx jumped down from the branch. For a second, Max was dumbfounded. Did Lilah really like him? He turned back to Binx. "Hey, Binx! Where do you think you're going? You're a Dennison now, buddy. One of us."

"Come on, Binx," Dani said, "Let's go home!"

"Home," Binx said, catching up with Lilah and Dani.

"Home," Max repeated, rolling his eyes playfully as he also ran to catch up. He stood in between Dani and Lilah. He felt complete. He'd protected both of them, like he promise, and gained a new friend in the process.

Unfortunately, his woes weren't over yet.
