Chapter I : Winter Wonderlands

A strong shocking jolt startled him awake, eyes staggering open, ultimately closing, bright white filling his vision. He wiggled his eyes open, slowly adjusting to the brightness. He was met with snow, a lot of snow, some trees in the peripheral of his vision. He wiggled his fingers and winced, suddenly aware of the harsh coldness around him. He slowly turn over onto his back with a small groan, meeting with the dawn sky, dark blue, streaks of orange and pink and yellow appearing between the trees. He felt tired and his muscles and bones aches, and of course, he was freezing. He weakly held up his hand, his skin looking pale and fingernails nearly completely blueish-lavender. He hand fell back to the snow.

He closed his eyes, concentrating on his heartbeat, which he feels is a alarming slow. In his midst of trying to get his heartbeat back up, he failed to recognize the ground rumbling and the sound of snow crunching under weight, not until a voice interrupts him.

"Hey... hey you alive?"

Something –someone, nudged his arm, and he slowly opened his eyes. His eyes took a second to adjust to the lighting again, and his breath was taken away when he was met when an incredibly handsome man standing over him; yet, the man seemed strangely... far away? His eyes trailed down the man's neck to his clothed chest, down to his— fur? His brows furrowed slightly at the sight before him, following the fur coat the man had, was the body of a... horse. It wasn't that the man sat atop a horse, no, he wouldn't be so bewildered at that, but it was like- like the man is a horse from the waist down. His eyes stretched a bit more, following the black fur to the body of the horse, to the back legs, seeing a glance of a tail. "What..." he whispered.

The other took a step back, startled. "You're awake!" He announced, shocked. The man –horse?– came back, horse body kneeling in the snow, making his human portion closer to him. A large hand came towards him, caressing his cheek and jaw, but he didn't have the energy to move away. "You're so cold..." the stranger said quietly before looking up and looking around. After a second, the of seemingly contemplation, he got up, and all he could think was, Where are you going? Your hand... it's warm...

And before the tears strangely felt like desperately dropping, the man circled around him, his warm, large body next to him, and he sighed. He closed his eyes, soaking in the other's body heat. He half opened his eyes when some some and warm was place over his body seeing a sort of blanket of furs on top of him. The warmth made him feel exhausted, tired. But he wanted to stay awake, wary of the strange stranger around him.

"Go to sleep, I'll be here when you wake up." The stranger's deep voice, as warm as his body hear and as soothing as a father crept into his ears, and as if like magic, his eyes felt heavy and he couldn't keep them open no longer and a much more comfortable darkness encased him this time.

He blinks open his eyes, eyes closing as a yawn disrupts him, his hand coming up to cover it out of habit, and as his finger touches his cheek he noticed how cold they felt. Eyes opening, blinking away the grogginess, the white of snow sat in front of him, trees and snow covered bushes close by. Suddenly, memories flooded his mind, the power outage, the blizzard, the passing out, the half-man half-horse, the whispering— He sat up, bones cracking from the sudden movement after being in a stiff position, eyes wide. The furry pelt fell from his shoulders and crumpled down to his lap, a sudden shiver of cold wind shaking him. He turned to his left quickly, finding the body of a horse next to him, and sure enough, turning his head a little farther. The torso of a human in warm cloaks at the front. He looked on mesmerized, know quite believing what was next to him. Another shiver wracked through him and he unconsciously scooted closer to the stranger, catching his attention from where he was reading a leather bound book and causing him to turn his head towards him, a surprised look on his face, "You're awake?"
