Chapter 5

Addie’s POV

“Addie, wake up”

“Addie”

“Addie, wakey wakey!! “

My eyes flicker open to the bright morning light coming from the curtains in my bedroom. I turn to the boy who keeps poking my cheeks thinking that will wake me from my deep sleep.

“Whatdoyawant?” I muttered drowsily to my annoying brother who continues to poke my cheeks.

“Addie you need to wake up right now” Gab says patiently.

“But I don’t want too” I pouted, thinking that this would get my brother to leave me alone.

“But you see, mom and dad are waiting for us downstairs and-“ I quickly shot up at the mention of my parents.

“Wait, mom and dad’s downstairs?” I asked him disbelievingly. He nodded with a frown, probably thinking about how our parents ‘cared’ for us for the past seven years. All those years my parents had been working nonstop and has been flying anywhere around the globe just to keep our company on top. With that, they left their ten year old daughter and their thirteen year old son living in a mansion with a bunch of servants. After seven years, we surprisingly turned out decent, not like those spoiled rich kids who sleeps anywhere and drinks every night clearly showing that they don’t have parents who care about them. My parents usually does not care what me and my brother do each day, weather that is drinking, partying or screwing with someone but they really do care about our grades. Since our family naturally has high IQs, and even if we are always have the highest marks on school, they always ask more. They keep on saying that we need to have better grades because we are the heirs of the company, but we don’t even want to work there! I just want to pursue my dream, and that is fashion designing. Instead my mom keeps on pushing me in being a doctor while my dad is literally blackmailing me into taking engineering just like what they did to Gab. We always tried to impress them like winning awards in different competitions like quiz bowls, being MVP in soccer, being the nationwide high school soccer champions in Australia, being the captain of the varsity soccer team and many many more. But they never care. That’s what they always do, they only care about our grades and our business, nothing more.

I quickly got up and brushed my hair with my fingers as I followed my brother downstairs. As I headed towards the dining room, I tried to calm myself by breathing in and breathing out. I’m quite scared of what my dad has to say about me right now and my mom’s reaction on how unsophisticated I looked nowadays. I slowly entered the room and the cool air of awkwardness greeted me, looking at the people surrounding the table my breath caught up in my throat as I took in the people whom I haven’t seen for more than a year. My brother quickly sat down in his usual chair, my mother who is sitting at the end of the table is looking young for a forty year old woman. She had her long blonde hair pinned up in a bun on top of her head and had a slim and curvy figure. Her face was covered with light make up which made her brown eyes stand out and made her pale skin look less paler. She looks like an Oscar winning actress with her beauty and sophisticated style. She quietly sips her tea and looks at me who’s standing in the doorway, she narrowly looks at me up and down and frowns disapprovingly. My father on the other hand was sitting at the other end of the table and was reading the news paper, he had brown curly hair, a fair complexion, has chocolate brown eyes and has a handsome face. Even with his lifestyle, he still manages to look buff and fit which makes me wonder why since all he does is work.

“Why don’t you sit down Adrianne and eat your breakfast” my mother said in a calm tone. I slowly walk towards my seat which is opposite from Gab’s and slowly sat down. I felt the air getting thicker and stared at my empty plate not bothering to put food on it. I slowly look up to my brother and found him doing the same thing. I sighed mentally and decided to eat. I reached for the pancakes and dumped a lot of butter and maple syrup in it.

“Why don’t you go easy on the butter and syrup? That way you’ll get rid of those fat”

I inhaled deeply and looked at my mother who was looking at me and my plate in disgust. I looked at my brother who was now staring blankly at me, he knows that I don’t need to diet since I’m really skinny because of soccer and dance conditionings. Not letting my mother now how hurt I was with her statement, I just shrugged it off and shoveled the food to my mouth, not bothering to look at her or know her comments.

“So, how’s Harvard Gabriel?” My father asked, not bothering to take the news paper down.

“Good” My brother answered in a bored tone. My dad placed his paper on top of the table and glared at Gab, who glared at him in return.

“I don’t settle for good. And you know that I’m asking about your grades, not your life in college” dad said in a stern voice.

“I meant great, not good. And my grades are great. I’m on top, as always” Gab answered hardly.

“Good” he answered.

“And I need the both of you to be ready tomorrow night for a Christmas ball that a friend of mine is hosting. It is a black tie affair, so wear something formal” dad added.

“Don’t wear something that will humiliate us” mom said as she glared at me.

I spent the rest of the day in my room. All I did was play the guitar and sit in front of the computer. I was in the middle of reading through the tweets in my feed when Jann decided to bust in my room.

“HELLO TO THE BEST COUSIN EVAAAAAH!!!” she shouted.

“Shut up! Mom and dad are here!” I hissed at her.

“Don’t worry about that, they went somewhere” She smiled at me. I smiled back and soon grew curious on what she was doing in my house.

“Jann, what are you doing here?” I asked her with my eyebrows raised.

“Oh! About that! I’m supposed to ask you to go with me to the mall so we can shop for dresses.”She answered excitedly.

“Why do we need to shop for dresses?” I asked curiously.

“Your dad didn’t tell you? We’re supposed to go to that ball with our parents tomorrow night.”She answered.

“Oh right! I almost forgot about that!” I answered as it suddenly clicked in my mind.

“So, to the mall?” She asked me with a big grin. I grinned in return.

“TO THE MALL!!” Jann shouted excitedly.

I stumbled in my room with seven different shopping bags in my hands. Instead of shopping for dresses, me and Jann ended up with shopping for dresses and anything that we see and like for that matter. But I’m not complaining because I love shopping and today was really fun, specially when I have Jann cracking jokes and being her fun self beside me. I quickly took my purchases out of the bags and decided to hang them in the closet. I slowly hanged the clothes that I bought and came across the dress that Jann said is “perfect” for me. I’m not really a fan of it because I think it’s rather plain for me but once I wore it in the fitting room Jann was literally shouting, saying that I look flawless in it. So I decided to buy it since Jann always have a fantastic sense of style. Style, Styles, Harry Styles. Wow, I suddenly thought of him. I wonder if he still remember me? Naaaaah, I bet he doesn’t! I’m just a girl that he met in a restaurant.

He doesn’t remember girls that he meets in a restaurant right??

There it is! I also placed a bit of Addie's life in it so we can get to know more about her.

So have you seen the One Way or Another video?? It really is something right? My favorite part is Niall and the shower bit!

Anyway thank you for reading!
