Gem sighs, slamming their head down on the desk. How am I going to pay for rent now...? They said to themselves. This is the third time. Gem scratches their head as they stand up and walk a few feet only to flop down on their bed. They close their eyes, unable to keep from drifting off to sleep.

Gem rubbed their eyes, yawning as they sat up. They did a doubletake, realizing they were in an unfamiliar place. Neon lights surrounded them, aggressive pop music blasting in their ears. They jumped up, the colors and sounds making them dizzy. Hello?! they called out. No response was heard. Gem walked around, finally adjusting to the sights and sounds around them. It seemed like a cool and rainy night in a glowing city. Busy shops lined the sides of Gem's vision. Woah...

Holy coral! This place is awesome! Gem heard another voice say in astonishment. Gem fwipped around, seeing what looked like an inkling girl in the distance. She had long and twirling tentacle-hair, and wore a dress with stars crawling up the material. They wore uneven socks accompanied by yellow boots with star buckles. Gem now took in their own appearance; A jumpsuit with the same starry design. They had blue and black flats, along with knee-high socks. A glowing gold bracelet rested on their wrist.

Hey! Who are you?! Do you know why I'm here?! A voice called. No-?! Gem responded before looking up. It was the inkling girl. They made eye contact before everything quickly faded to black.

Gem jolted awake, their alarm blasting the Calamari Inkantation. They clicked their alarm off and threw their phone. Standing up, they rapidly examined their body. The unusually fashioned clothes were gone, replaced by Gem's casual baggy shirt and sweatpants. They sighed in relief. What a weird dream... so vivid... Gem shook it off and went to brush their teeth and prepare to go find another job today.
