Maga'tamah-
A 9-shaped charm on the end of a Spirit Medium's necklace to help them talk to the spirit they are channeling (used mostly in Ipuxaria)
Haluna-
A ritual in Ipuxaria, making it so any male can be heir to the throne if the current king has no sons or sons-in-law. A lot of the time, it's known ahead of time if the king is going to be performing Haluna, and many boys in Ipuxaria start fighting over the role, if no one is stated by the current king to be his Chosen One
Channeling-
The Spirit Medium's way of talking to (and becoming) a departed soul. Harder to do when it's been a few years since the deceased has departed. Has a chance of turning said spirit/soul (younger than a month old) into a ghostly figure. A big part of the Ipuxarian culture, Cadalbra. Done often in Shuma as well as Ipuxaria
Afterdeath-
The term used to describe when someone is newly deceased. In Shumari culture, there is a ritual performed for the deceased
Spirit Realm-
The place where all souls go after passing away
Realmkeeper-
The person who watches over the Spirit Realm (kind of like the Grim Reaper)
Dragonborn-
A type of Canin, usually living in Adaeterra (Malik, Dominic) or Shuma (Hawke), that are half- or partially- dragon. They are able to speak their own special language that comes to them automatically at birth. This language is equivalent to "Speaking In Tongues"
Housemaiden-
A Caecani name for a live-in maid or butler
The Fallen City-
Slang for Caecan
The Falling-
Slang for the day Caecan fell to the volcano/earthquake combo
Ipux-
Shorthand for Ipuxaria.
Adae-
Shorthand for Adaeterra.
Daemo-
Shorthand for Idaemor.
Canin/Felene-
The forms all Immortalis residents take when not in human form. Very common to stay in Canin or Felene form (depending on species), many choose to not take human form often. Dragonborn Canins and Felenes have wings and their own language
Shapeshifter Canins and Felenes can transform into just about anything that is a living being (other Canins, other Felenes, dragons, horses, etc)
Shuma-specific Vocab
Afterdeath Ritual-
When a Shumari person passes away, it is a tradition in Shuma to help that spirit move on and live on as a plant in the city.
Rune Ritual-
The ritual that concludes the end of the Afterdeath ritual that involves the Nature Rune. The rune works in the ritual by changing the body into their assigned "spirit plant" (such as a tree, pond, river, flower, crops, etc). It takes a few hours for it to fully occur.
Important Terminology
Nature Rune-
The rune that the Shuma Kingdom holds that helps the kingdom flourish with different nature. Used in their Rune Ritual.
Immortality Rune-
The rune held by the Kingdom of Adaeterra that can only be used by one person at a time, usually passed down from queen-to-queen. It was wanted by the other kingdoms for a long time, but after Alexandra "Zasha" became queen, all war came to a stop as she just wanted peace. (Thanks, Caecan, for your sacrifice!...not really she became queen much longer after you)
Fertility Rune-
The rune that will be eventually held by the Idaemor Kingdom that helps families grow. It can help with fertility issues or just guaranteeing birth/conception of twins, triplets, or even quadruplets.
Magic Rune-
The rune held by the Kingdom of Ipuxaria. It doesn't do much other than sit on a shelf and look pretty, but it gives everyone their magic abilities.
