Chapter 1; The change (edited)

Point of view: Bella

Before I met the Cullens, my life had been easy, peaceful even. I had always been the ordinary girl that no one noticed. I had travelled for so long with my mother before she had sent me to Forks to live with my father. Moving in with him only met that I wouldn't be the "new girl" all the time. I would have been able to become invisible again after a few months. But faith had had other plans for me and somehow, I had ended up with a family of vampires and werewolves. And being the ordinary girl was way in the past now.

It didn't bother me either. I loved what my life had turned into. I had a family, a real one. I was married to the men I love and was blessed with the best little miracle, my daughter. I was finally able to fully enjoy my life, for eternity. It was all I had ever wanted.

It only had been a week since my change, and since I had given birth to Renesmee. The whole family was surprised at how well I was doing as a newborn. I had no bloodlust, drank right from the animals without any problems and making my brothers and sister a little jealous in the process.

The only people that were missing from the household were Alice and Jasper. They had left before I had even started to get in labor, knowing that Jasper wouldn't have been able to handle the amount of blood a birth would bring. But it had been a week now, and I had not even heard about them still.

Obviously, a lot had been going on apart from me changing into a vampire. Everyone had been surprised, including me, at how fast Renesmee was growing. It was also a surprise for everyone when Carlisle had told us that she was nor human or vampire, but both.

The worst surprise was to learn Jacob had imprinted on her. At first, I had been really angry at him for it. But he quickly explained to me what the bond meant, and all my worries were washed away. I was simply happy that my best friend would be one of the people helping me to keep her safe forever. And I knew, he would never go against her will.

However, Renesmee's future was still uncertain. A lot of questions were still unanswered. We still didn't know how the Volturi would react to her being half-human and half-vampire. We also didn't know if she would be immortal or keep aging fast. But only the future would tell us, and for now, I was simply enjoying the time I had with my little girl.

I was out hunting with Rosalie and Esmee. The boys had stayed behind, since they had gone just the day before. I had just finished taking down a deer, drinking every last drop of blood from the animal. I couldn't keep myself from missing Alice. She was my best friend after all. And I was really eager for them to come back. I was curious to see Jasper too. We had not been close before, since he had had so much trouble with me being human, and I was curious to get to know him better now that he could be around me freely.

I turned around and saw Rose not far behind me, just getting up from her own kill. I quickly ran towards her and smile at her when she noticed me. "Have you heard from Alice recently?" I asked her, now strongly wondering if they were avoiding me on purpose. "Yeah, she texted yesterday saying that they would be back tomorrow." She answered me and I simply nodded.

It didn't help my thoughts of them avoiding me on purpose, since I had myself texted Alice yesterday, asking her when they would be back and hadn't had any answer. But I decided to push the feeling away for now, I had enough things to worry about, I didn't need to add to it.

When we got back to the house, Nessie was peacefully sleeping in Jake's arms. I quickly walked to them, just to kiss her on the forehead softly, but decided to let him have her for now. It had been a while since me and Edward had spent time alone together. So, I took the opportunity and joined him in our bedroom.

He looked up at me as soon as I entered the room, and I smile at him softly. "Where's Nessie?" he asked, seeing me alone. "Sleeping in Jake's arms." I shrugged slightly, walking towards him to seat on the edge of the bed. He smiled at me and grabbed me quickly to make me nestle against him in the bed. "You know I love you, right?" he said softly against my ear, and it made shivers run through me.
