The Final Chapter: One Of Many Worlds

Act I: A War Between Teyvat's Secrets

Chapter 1

"Did you get him?", he asked. His servant bowed before him, slightly anxious. "N-no we did not. It seemed he knew we were coming...", the Leader got his answer. He turned to glance down with firery eyes at the Abyss Lector kneeling before him. "So you are suggesting we have a traitor among us?" In a swift motion he drew his blade and held it against his servants throat. "Maybe you are the traitor yourself. Nobody else would even dare to bring up a suggestion like this..." With widened eyes the Lector stared at his prince. "Y-your H-highness p-p-please...", the Herald stuttered.
"Oh Aether please... You can't kill anyone who seems suspiscious. We need everyone we have for our plan", a voice said in an almost jockingly manner. The Abyss prince took his eys from the Lector only to spot Kaeya coming into the room. The cavalry captain lifted his eyepatch only to reveal an eye shining in gold. With both of his eyes he looked at the prince which put his blade back and turned around to the table on which all of the battle plans were spread. "How is she doing?" Aethers voice calmed down and began to sound soft like he used to in the good old days. When they were still alive... "Good. But she's worried. She knows that something is coming and it worries her", Kaeya answers the question stepping forward towards the table. "Try to calm her. I don't want her to worry more than she needs to" Kaeya looked at the battle plans. He was already familiar with them. His look wandered to Aether which had a very grimm stare. Something bothered him. "Leave me and Kaeya alone now", he said suddenly still staring at those many plans. The Lector nodded and then left, leaving him with the Abyss prince. But it did not give a warm and calming feeling to be alone with his old friend, it left a worrying feeling thus time. And Mondstadt's cavalry captain knew exactly why.
Aether left a moment of silence before he began to speak: "He is right isn't he? Someome is betraying us. We can't let that happen, Kaeya" He looked right at the Mondstadter. A mix of anger and fear glittering in his eyes. This was his grand plan. The final instance. The one thing that would irradicate the archons one and for all, before they could take on Celestia. His magnum opus, the final act. There was no room for mistakes. " I know. But we have other things to focus on right now. And we don't need distrust in our ranks. You know that" The princes sigh echoed from the walls: "A traitor... Why? We all know what Celestia did. What they did! They deserve everything that's coming who would betray our noble cause?!" In a fit of rage he threw the plans on the floor. All Kaeya could do was stare at him, because he knew. He knew why someone would betray their cause. And it wasn't a noble reason, like the fight they plan to do wasn't a noble fight. All they planned to do was exact revenge. Revenge for something they were a reason for. Aether's fist hit the table. "Celestia destroyed us for overpowering them. Killed countless innocent people and cursed countless others. Who would sympathize with them?" Kaeya's fake confidence crumbled under the stare Aether gave him. Pure despair lay in it. The prince saw his plan fall before his inner eye. And it drove him crazy. "Someone who doesn't know better...", Kaeya responded calmly. He put his hand on the prince's shoulder. Aether's face turned back at the table. "I have to leave now...", Kaeya said. His prince nodded and began to pick up all of the fallen papers. Then he stopped for a moment: "Please look after Lumine for me..." With one last look Kaeya answered: "You know I'll do that for you. I always did"

Jean finished the drawing. "That's it?" "Should be it for now." Silence filled the room. "Liyue knows?", Jean looked at Lumine. "Yes. The Tianquan is already preparing a fleet and the adepti help building strong weapons..." "Inazuma?" "Since our enemy will attack from the west, they will get hit first. The Raiden Shougun joined forces with Watatsumi and built and strong front. Food is coming from here and Liyue to them and they store it safely. Healing personal and potions are traveling or are already there and setting up a temporary hospital", Lumine pointed at the map to visualize where it would be. "Any message from Sumeru, Natlan, Fontaine or...", Jean paused looking at Diluc, "Snezhnaya?" "Not yet. Sumeru's academiya though, declared they would not participate. No one has heard from them or their archon since...", Lisa explained and gave Jean a letter. After the acting grandmaster read it she tore it apart and scoffed. Everyone looked at her in silence before she resumed the meeting: "Grandmaster Varka can't make it in time to participate, so he left me in charge. Eula will travel with a few soldiers to Liyue. Pick out whoever you trust for this. Should enemies get past Inazuma it's your job to hold the line." Eula nodded and left the room. Jean looked at Diluc and continued: "You and Kaeya will prepare Mondstadt's fleet to sail to Inazuma. Pack the best man for this. I will join you, while Lisa stays back here to guard the city with the rest of the soldiers. No fighting between you two. We don't have time for this!" Kaeya and Diluc looked firstly at each other, then at Jean. Both nodded and left. The acting grandmaster let out a sigh, since nobody but Lisa and Lumine remained. Lisa touched Jean's back gently, "It's okay darling... It's a tough time for everyone..." Jean looked worrying at her. "And you really are okay with guarding Mondstadt?" The librarian chuckled. "Oh Jean. I'm not made of glass... I am stronger than you think. This is a war after all, we need everybodys help...", Lisa answered bringing a soft smile to Jean's face. Lisa patted Jean's back then also left, leaving the acting grandmaster with the Traveler. "Will you go find your brother?" Lumine looked first at Jean then at the map in front of them showing Teyvat. Her look wandered west from Inazuma, where an undefined blob marked the island they assumed to be the enemy's base. Old Khaenri'ah. But that's not where her brother was hiding. He was hiding here on the main continent. Probably somewhere near. "I don't know yet. I'm not even sure I wanna see him. It would distract me..." She looked back at Jean. The acting grandmaster smiled at her. "You are probably right..."
