Prologue

November 5th, 2005
Jessica's Funeral

"Hi, Penny," Samantha said, hugging Jessica's mother. "Samantha, I'm so sorry," Penny said. "If you ever need anything at all, just give me a call," she added. "I'll be road tripping with my brother for a while but if I do, I most certainly will," Samantha said. Penny hugged her one more time. "Jessica was keeping this at my place, she was going to propose on Christmas, I think you should have it now," Penny said, taking a ring box out of her purse and putting it in Samantha's hand. A tear ran down Samantha's cheek and she muffled a sob with her hand. "Thank you," was the only thing Samantha could say before walking to the back of the church to find Dean. 

"She- She wanted to- to marry me," Samantha stuttered, showing her older brother the box. "Of course she did, your amazing Sammy," Dean said. Samantha opened the box gingerly. Inside was a silver ring with a figure eight of diamonds, on the inside of the figure eight was a blue diamond and an Emerald. Inside the ring had "Take My Name and Make It Yours" inscribed. "I would have taken her name," Samantha said when Dean read the inscrition. "Samantha Moore sounds nice," Dean said. "Yeah, it does," Samantha said. 

Samantha still felt like she couldn't breath, but she knew that it would get better, it didn't help the pain though. She would spend her life trying to avenge Jeasica's death, and she would spend her life missing Jessica. And if Samantha had Dean by her side, thwn she knew that she would be ok. She would be able to be a hunter again. "Your a hunter Samantha, your a fucking amazing hunter and we'll find whatever killed her," Dean said, pulling his baby sister into another hug. The tenth one that day. "Yeah, we will," Samantha said, she put the ring on her finger and imagined what would have happened if Jessica had gotten to propose to her, Dean would probably be there, maybe even her dad. Penny would be there Jessica's sister Cady would be there too. It would probably be after dinner during a movie. Yeah, it would have been amazing.
