4 days after Aoba Johsai game
kageyama is seen bouncing a volleyball in the gym, going through his serve routine. just like he has done hundreds of times, he tossed the ball up, elevated and slammed it across the court. just before it struck the ground though, a bouncy, noisy and orange little grunt came running in, yelling, and tried to receive the serve. he did not manage to receive the serve. he did not manage to avoid getting hit in the face. he got hit in the face.
"STUPID ORANGE! BOKE HINATA WHO ASKED YOU TO GET IN THE WAY OF MY SERVE?????" Kags yelled across the court looking like someone stole his milk.
settling himself, he returned to the service line for another serve. he repeated the whole routine, only for ANOTHER SCREAMING MIDGET TO RECEIVE IT. this time though the ball actually went up, and a massive body flew up into the air, slamming the ball down so hard it ricocheted up and got stuck in the ceiling beams, stunning kageyama and hinata into stupor. when the large man landed, we got a clear glimpse of him. introducing the Iron Giant of Japan, Yami Tetsuo.
as kageyama was gawking at Yami, hinata went up to the shorter figure, holding a hand above his head, in tears.
"FINALLY SOMEONE SHORTER THAN ME BWAAAAAAAAH *cries*"
"OI YOU LITTLE BRAT, RESPECT YOUR SENPAIS!" the small cute dude yelled. who was this small cute dude? i'm not answering that, it should be pretty clear. Yami walked over to them and pulled his 32cm ruler out of his sleeve and held it above nishinoya's head.
"finally, someone to use my ruler on." he mumbled in a small voice, completely not befitting of his massive figure. kageyama stumbled over to meet them, greeting nishinoya as senpai, resulting in a massive explosion of horny. then, he gawked up at Yami, who was a good amount taller than him.

kageyama stumbled over his words a little, before finally bowing 150° and shouting
"ITS AN HONOUR TO MEET YOU, YAMI-SAMA!"
Yami was very taking aback by this loud blueberry kid. even more taken aback by the fact that he called him "Sama". Yami kinda shrank a little, looking like he was trying to hide behind nishinoya. it did not work. nishinoya kinda cackled a bit before grabbing Yami by his humched over shoulders and swinging him in front of his tiny self. "return the greeting you large baby!"
"uh...hello blueberry kun. how do you know my name?"
"i read the volleyball monthly and they had 5 whole pages about you sir! you're the reason Karasuno is still a powerhouse!"
"oh thats some shit. nice meeting you though." were the last words he said, before shutting up. in his mind though...

in a couple of minutes, the other club members started to trickle in, and daichi happily jogged over to Yami and executed their glorious handshake. clearly the captain's favourite. then, Sugawara jumped on his back from behind, and grinned over his shoulder as Yami gripped his head. Tanaka ran at Yami, expecting an embrace, but ended up running into the wall behind him as he Yami dodged. oof. he still got a head pat though. the other second years came in and all, but there was 1 person Nishinoya was still looking for.
"Daichi-san, where is Asahi?"
"uh..uh...i-uh..."
"that lil pussy bitch isn't back right?"
"ehe yep"
"what was i expecting lmfao"
Yami popped his head between them and interrupted
"daichi, what time does training start today?"
he actually knew, he just didn't want to have to empty out his pantry to cook for a sad noya.
training had officially begun, and it seemed that the number 1 middle blocker and number 1 tiny libero had been keeping themselves in shape, with noya keeping fair pace with everyone and Yami basically outrunning everyone in a single step. when it came to spiking drills though, Daichi had to instruct Yami not to spike at 100% because well, the school couldn't exactly afford to replace every ball they had. everything went by relatively normally, like any other training they had.
at the end of the training, yami picked nishinoya up and carried him out, while talking to sugawara next to him. unfortunately he did not take any notice of the doorframe and...wham.
