The next day on my way to school I see Annie waiting right in front of me with a red carpet leading all the way up to her in a limousine, so I decided to take the short cut to avoid 'it' but it has been getting on my nerves lately 'it' following me everywhere but short cut doesn't seem to help, all I do is trip and break my nose, almost get hit by lightning, fall into huge size puddles from yesterday rain and almost drown, sometimes I almost drown and get hit by lightning.
I arrive at school and see Luca ahead of me so I run to him then she-- I mean 'it' comes out of nowhere with arms open wide, eyes closed and lips pouted out ready for a kiss so I grabbed the nearest guy and threw him to her then I ran around her and went to Luca and we quickly ran in before she noticed that she was smooching the cheek of a fellow class mate, but I think he was happy since everyone like her probably including him.
"I can't believe that you threw someone at her and dragged me away," Luca said, pouting.
"I thought you didn't like her?" I replied confused.
"I don't but still... I wanted to see her facial expression when she realised that it wasn't her 'lover'," he said as I imagined her face as well.
"That would have been funny," we both head into class to find the boy I threw right in front of me.
"How did he get here?" Luca said as a shiver ran down his spine.
"I took the nearest route to this class room, I wish to speak to Harlequin..." He said, pushing his glasses up and crossing his hands again.
"Umm, did I do something wrong?" I said as we both walked outside into the corridor.
"I don't like it when you push me to that vile creature, it is just horrendous that you would think that everyone likes her so it's ok to push me to her..."
"I'm sorry I guess?" I apologised to him, but as soon as I said that I knew it was a big mistake.
"I guess? I GUESS YOU SAY?!" He looked at me and then coughed, pushed his glasses up again and continued to speak to me. "You cannot just say I guess you have to say sorry as if you mean it, it the same as girls being stupid and repeating the same mistakes all over again, and you... The man of all man in this school say I guess? I have overestimated you, you're just like the girls,"
"Gynophobia maybe?" I mumbled under my breath, ignoring the lecture he was giving me.
"I-I do not h-have a phobia of girls!" He screeches covering his ears, even though it was obvious.
"You said pretty mean things about girls, even though that has nothing to do with me pushing you," although he does have a point if he is afraid of determined girls trying to get your love instead of moving on.
"I-I-- Please don't tell anyone,"
"So I was right?"
"A-Ah no, I mean yes!" He looked away for a moment then turned back around, pushing his glasses up and crossing his arms... Again. "Yes and no..." He said, clearing his throat afterwards, I heard the bell and then realised that it was time for registration.
"I'm not going to ask... Bye," I said, walking into the classroom.
"My name is Hayes..." He mumbled, then a few footsteps echoed into the corridor and soon after disappeared.
"That was awkward..." I opened the doors and sat in my seat as our teacher called out our names. I fell in and hit my nose on the ground, I was kind of use to it I guess? Everyone was laughing a few "ouch"es could be heard. Nothing bad.
I got out of the class since it was break time and Luca followed but something felt weird, as if I was being followed, we arrived at the garden and I saw Annie there holding a bouquet of roses.
"My darling, these are for you," she shouted as if I was going to give up and run to her, so I decided to drag Luca into this, I grabbed him and gave him a kiss on the forehead. I swear my bad luck is working with the devil to make my life a misery.
"Sorry but I have already got someone I love," but then I realised that it wasn't Luca I grabbed it was Hayes?! Then I looked around and saw Luca stand behind me laughing it looked like he was going to cry any minute now, and Hayes was flushed red looking around.
"What will people think of us? And your reputation?" He mumbled fiddling with his hands and biting his lips, I didn't want to embarrass him by said 'wrong person' so I continued as if it was Luca.
"How can you love another man, darling?!" Annie said, dropping the roses as if it came from a TV program with characters that have a complicated love life.
"I'm sorry, but I already have a 'darling' of my own," I said, carrying him, then girls out of nowhere come upstairs and see me holding him in my arms and squeal.
"Ahh!! He loves another person... A shame but I support him!" One of them exclaim, Luca on the other hand felt like he was going to burst.
"We Su-Port Har-le-quin," Luca started to chant, then the rest of the girls decided to follow, then Annie ran and Hayes was still in my arms...
"Can it get any worse?" I mumbled when it suddenly started to rain.
"Rain in the middle of the summer? No fair!" Most of them exclaimed walking back in, when they finally went in I saw Hayes blushing so I put him down, then I remembered what he said 'Yes and no' right?
"What do you mean yes and no?" I asked him.
"Well," he said fiddling with his thumbs. "I have a family full of girls only 8 sister, and 5 cousins that also live with me and I am the only boy, being around them is ok but with no brothers I get nervous with other girls and no manly advice... They also tease me a lot, it's almost unnatural and kind of creepy.."
"Ahh right... I guess I can give you some manly advice," then I mumbled "Even though I'm a girl," but he never heard and was delighted that I had offered him.
"I invite you to my house tomorrow," he said writing down the address and handing it over to me.
"Can I come?" Luca said, butting in.
"Sure..." Hayes replied and sighed with disappointment, he didn't take me seriously... right?
"Ok, but if Harlequin doesn't make it, I'll ask his sister to come over ok?" Luca said putting his thumbs up.
"I don't have a--" but as soon as I said that he dragged me back down to class, it became sunny and Hayes confused went home early for some reason. After school I went home, after tripping on a few puddles, doors hitting my face and dropping my newly bought chocolate bar in a puddle as it started to rain more.
"Wow, such luck." I muttered to myself, getting up and walking home.
