Jess's P.O.V

When I woke up the next morning the spot beside me was empty. I sat up to see if Grayson was was anywhere else in the room but he was nowhere to be seen. I fell back into the bed and turned so I could look out the window. Everything that had happened the following evening rushed back to me and I wanted to scream.

What had my life become?

It was an amazing and beautiful life, filled with people I loved and wanted to share my happiest moments with but all good things came with a downside. My downside just so happened to be the things my boyfriend's family is starting to reveal from my past.

I decided that I was going to tell Grayson about my mother and the note. Xander already knew what the note had told me to do and I had seen his. Two people to find. One was supposed to be dead while the other had been missing for 13 years.

After much trying to distract myself of my thoughts Grayson walked into the room. I gave him a smile but he didn't return it. I rushed over to his side and rested my hand on his shoulder.

"Tell me what's happened." I asked, my voice quiet with worry. Grayson met my eyes.

"My uncle's alive." He said, the words strained. I already knew that information, and I hated myself for not being able to tell him. Grayson looked over to me and shook his head.

"You already knew." He said. I nodded hesitantly, not daring to meet his eyes. "How?" His voice was filled with hurt.

I told him everything. It just all came out and somehow I ended in tears. Grayson pulled my body into a hug and kissed the top of my head. He was the one who should be crying, not me. I was not the one who just received a life changing revelation. Though, I had gotten to the point where my story had gone to my mother.

"She chose to leave me. She chose to leave her only daughter and I tried for majority of my life to erase her from my past but now Tobias Hawthorne expects me to go and find her? I don't think I can do it." My voice trembled, tears running down my face.

"Jess, you don't have to do what that message said." I looked up at the beautiful boy in front of me with tear filled eyes. "My grandfather was delusional at the end. We already solved one of his mysteries, you don't owe it to anyone to solve another one" I gave him a teary smile. He wiped the tears off my face and leaned down and kissed me.

I wanted to freeze my life here because I knew that from that moment on things would only get harder. I would have to fight to keep my perfect life.

...

When I heard the crash I ran out into the hall. Another one came. I rushed down the halls, running towards where the sound had came from. When I was passing a certain hall a plume of dust blew out of the hall. I took a sharp turn and saw Xander and Avery. Avery turned and met my eyes. I raised my eyebrows and put my hands on my hips.
